The cymbal work in this song is something to be admired. Definitely Lars' creativity at his best.

People shit on Lars but his 80’s work was undeniably unique. His playing on this song was extremely tasteful. I look at this one as James being the metronome for the first half and just letting Lars be an artist.

12 year old me hearing that for the first time was blown away by what I thought of as the fastest bass drumming ever. Watching this 20 years later it feels incredibly calm watching your feet do it!

MAN, AM I GLAD I stumbled upon this video! I have been a Metallica fan since 1993 when I was 13 and was gifted the "And Justice For All" album. My 1st introduction to Metallica. To say that "ONE" is my favorite song is a understatement. I have always been in awe of Lars drumming skill & ability. If I was to watch this video blind, I WOULD NOT, be able to tell the difference between you and Lars. It is that spot on and perfect. PROPS, my brother. You did great. And my favorite part of the whole video is the WHOOOO! at the end. I LOVE IT!

"One" is still is a very heavy intense feeling song. Not as "heavy" as many metal bands nowadays but heavy is in the writing not the speed. "One" is a banger every time. That double bass breakdown with James's chugging behind it is one of the heaviest feeling parts in a song ever recorded. You can't not wanna scream as loud as possible when listening to it.

"Imprisoning me"
"All That I See"
"Absolute Horror"
I get the same feeling now at 43 as I did the first time I heard it. A room with "One" playing above 100 decibels is 1 the heaviest feelings music will ever give a person. I know hundreds of songs that are faster and more brutal than "One" but none give me the same feeling of power.

Not a drummer here but appreciate how perfect your notes are timed within the measures. Whether it's snare hits or double kick, there is no lag, no rushing...they are perfect sixteenth notes or whatever it calls for placed exactly in time. Well done sir
