Two different sports that compliment each other tremendously. Put them together to create an animal on the ground.

I'm a blackbelt and have nothing but respect for collegiate wrestlers. I had a D1 wrestler ground me for 10 minutes. He couldn't submit me but I just couldn't sweep him. The pace, aggression, and weight control he had was just brutal.

Their cardio is CRAZY AMAZING. If you've never rolled on the mat you have NO concept of how exhausting that is for that length of time!

3:37 "Don't... don't... don't ruin his life" Good man. This was an amazing session.

Tremendous humility and paying attention with the heel hook safety. “Don’t ruin his life” Love it

Wrestler just has to realize he can do ‘illegal’ moves.

Always gonna be hard to beat the cardio, strength, and conditioning of someone who's actively training wrestling. Let alone a state champ.

Former wrestler 2 days into bjj and this was very similar to my experience. The bjj guys are crazy smart with submissions and body positions but it's hard for them to match the speed and violence of a wrestlers takedowns. Hats off to both these guess

Love this, actually felt like a legit Jitz practitioner vs. a legit Wrestler. Felt like two guys that genuinely had isolated understanding of their respective sport.

For just 18 years of age, that kid is a HIGH level wrestler. Wow.

That kid is going places. Identifying the danger so easily when Bjj isn’t his main sport is impressive

Wrestler is really good. He defended guillotine brilliantly. The only thing he didn’t defend that heel hook well, that could’ve been catastrophic. He’s a great grappler.

As a wrestler, my first day of BJJ practice consisted of me taking people down and then getting submitted. Very humbling. Also my feet were raw from shooting lol

That’s why wrestling is such a great base in learning either BJJ, MMA or martial arts. The fluidity, technique, pace, body control, footwork, strength & aerobic capacity is unparalleled.
I’m a state champ wrestler & rolling with BJJ upper belts is just another world, but none could take me down, stop my offense & throws.
Wrestling has no submissions except my front & side “choke holds” which aren’t like BJJ chokes.

Props to the man in black!! I’ve rolled BJJ for for over 15 years and have to say he held his ground and looks like he’s going places!!!

a HS state champ is a serious athlete and could likely be d1 worthy depending on the state. That's a tough ass matchup on the feet for any BJJ guy, even a black belt

It really pleased me to hear “don’t heel hook him”…

I don't know who I'm more impressed with, the young kid for being so strong and knowledgeable at such a young age, or the old guy for having so much endurance and matching young energy. Kudos to both of you.
