A random power outage or an accidental click of a button can leave you without very important files. Luckily there is no need to get upset! In this video, I will be teaching you how to safely recover deleted files from almost any device.

Remember to stop using your drive as soon as you suspect that you’ve lost data or it has become corrupted. If you do that, you have a great chance to recover permanently deleted files with Disk Drill.

Free data recovery within 500 MB.

Timestamps:
00:23 Causes of data loss
01:09 Install Disk Drill recovery software
01:48 Select your drive
02:29 Search for lost data
03:44 Preview found files
05:11 Select & Recover your files

Step-by-Step Tutorial:
2. Install it on your PC
3. Launch Disk Drill. After you launch Disk Drill you will be prompted to upgrade, remember that you can restore up to 500MB of files for free. Upgrading to the Pro Edition will give you unlimited data recovery capabilities.
4. Locate the drive you wish to restore deleted data from in the list of available drives. To recover deleted files from an external device, connect it to your computer.
5. Click the Search for lost data button to initiate the scanning algorithms that search your disk for recoverable files. During the scan, you're going to see a progress bar along with some icon indicators to let you know how the scan is doing and the amount of time that this will take depends on the size of the drive.
6. Preview your files. Previewing is the only way to know if the file is fully recoverable.
7. Choose the files you want and click Recover to perform the recovery. If you are looking for certain files, you can filter the results.

I must say I was actually surprised when it worked for me. I was sceptic but tried it anyways.. I've been able to recover files I had accidentally deleted (PDF, XLSX, DOCX, DWG and many others) when transfering data from a HHD to a new SSD. It actually saved me. And for free. I can't tell how many data the free version will allow to recover, but I needed to recover aproximately 250 MB and it did well. It took some 40 minutes to scan my old 500 GB HDD, but it was worth the waiting. So, thanks a lot. New subscriber here.

I tried to recover deleted files on windows 10 after a major disk crash, your tool worked better than restore points. Nice video btw

what if you don't want to spend all day scanning all the files but you just want to scan audio so it will scan a lot quicker how do you just isolate audio to scan

Never been so grateful! Accidentally formatted by SD card in my EOS Canon app. Got over 1500 images back :) It isn't free to recover, cost me around $130 AUD to upgrade, but, got quotes from IT places around Melbourne and they were asking $400+ Thank you!!!

Disk Drill is not free! After it's done scanning you have to pay to recover your lost files. Just a warning.

My friend formatted my external hard drive (nothing is wrong with it) is there a way to restore and rebuild to how everything was organized from before?

I'm having a real issue. its only showing me existing files and not the files that got wiped. I just deleted this file maybe 30 mins ago. Is there a support team I can reach? I didnt have time machine activated.

I accidentally deleted a bunch of my recording files, and they didn't go into the recycle bin since they were over the maximum size. How can I get these back?

I purchased the $89 version. I was able to recover some files, but PSDs, Sketch files, AI, & .MOV files were recovered as garbage. The tutorials usually show people recovering photos, or JPGs. I also was able to PNGs.

Note this video is a bit miss leading. I used Disk Drill to recover data on my corrupted hard drive from my 2010 Macbook Pro. The free version is a good first step to see if your data files are recoverable but to recover the files you have to purchase the pro version. Since my files were recoverable I bought the Pro version for $89.

Here's a copy and paste of what's displayed on the clever.com website:

The great thing about Disk Drill is that you don’t have to upgrade to its premium/paid edition until you ensure the file(s) you are looking for can be recovered. Always download the free Disk Drill Basic first, and scan your storage device(s). Once you have located and successfully previewed the files you wish to recover, you may consider upgrading to Disk Drill PRO.
