First 55 seconds I thought I was listening to a forecast news segment.

What's missing in many of these Mazda3 Skyactiv reviews is the explanation and benefits of Mazda's SKYACTIV technology! One-piece lightweight chassis (30% stronger, 8% lighter compared to previous generations) which enhances the power-to-weight ratio, fuel economy,  handling and safety (does any other manufacturer do this in a compact?). One piece doors with no welds (look at a Civic if you don't know what this means) which further enhances safety. Added cross-members, beefed-up independent suspension with fantastic 4-point multi-link rear suspension for probably the best factory built setup in a base sedan compact (at least from Japan) that I have seen and driven. The four-wheel disc brakes are the biggest and best setup to date for the 3 and they're the same in all trim levels. As for the infotainment system, it's one of the best and is very easy to use. As well,  the optional Navigation is fantastic, particularly for longer drives. And the interior styling is definitely influenced by the likes of it's euro counterparts and made to be more simplistic (have you checked out a BMW lately?). Personally, I hate seeing too many buttons and switches but maybe that's just me. But in terms of the interior,  I'm most impressed with the materials, particularly things like the rubberized dash and firm, yet comfortable seats. The Skyactiv-G engine is more than meets the eye. There are over 200 patents to its technology... if you actually look into this,  you might be blow away. Since I have had the opportunity to drive the new Mazda against some of it's competitors, I can truthfully say that it is probably the best overall package for the money.

I just got my '15 Hatchback S GT and can't get enough of it. I love it and haven't driven over 20 miles with it yet. One of the best interiors I have seen that wasn't a luxury car. The radar cruise control, blind spot monitor, forward obstruction warning, city braking, and other safety features are worth the upgrade.

I have a black one (iTouring sedan) and sometimes it amazes me how similar to some European cars it looks like on the outside (specially from the side).

And the interior has some features and design that I've seen in some Audi before.

Love my 2015 hatchback in Soul Red. It has the sport Grand Touring trim and factory aero package with the 2.5L and six speed manual. The gloss black of the aero kit really accents the red paint. People compliment me on it all the time. It's got a nice sunroof, real perforated black leather with red stitching, a banging sound system. So far haven't had one single problem. It's a great car! Only complaint I can remotely think of is that the back seat is pretty small but it's still big enough for most people if you're not going super far.

Interior and the design of the touchscreen is way a head of its competitors. You dont get this navigational system, or the controls between the seets unless you buy a Mercedes or BMW. Its faster than most cars in the same category, better handling, better suspension and better equipped. More powerful (but still manages to use up less fuel)... and.. the screen IS touchscreen.. they just have a safety feature so you can't use it whilst driving.

Best red I've seen on a car in a long time. I almost chose the silver -- but couldn't resist the Soul Red Mica. Great car, worth every damn Canadian penny I spent.

Anyway I can get one of those Timex long sleeves? I've practically like all of your reviews and enjoyed every single one of them. Been taking a look at this vehicle and the Mazda 6.

Thanks for all the reviews, cheers!

I love my new maxda 3 2015, I think this is the best car in the compact Class.

I really like this dude but I'm not sure you compared it with cars in its class. It's interior is miles ahead from its competitors.

It is a touch screen. Dave.... How did you get that wrong after reviewing two mazda3

Such a low score for dash layout!
I love the fact that when I drive my Mazda, only the important controls stand out. Mazda went with a functional interior on purpose.
If you don't like the Mazda 3 dash layout, then you obviously don't like the European cars layout also.

I'm pretty sure half of these comments are people who were paid by hyundai. Because the hyundai elantra has to be the ugliest and slowest car i ever seen, the steering wheel looks like an after thought the dash looks like it was drawn by a 5 year old and the exterior looks like they took it from a futuristic 1980s movie. And to make it worst it's engines weak and you can't even hear it?! How do people get bought into this stuff. I rather buy a kia than a hyundai just because it's just an ok car. And the mazda 3 has to be the best manual car ever not to mention that grunt it makes above 5k rpms.. You can't get that out a hyundai elantra.

My favourite part is when he starts adjusting the steering wheel position while he’s driving lol

Thanks for the review. Mazda fan myself. The interior grew on me. I do love the control knob near the shifter. Hopefully the rust issues with the body have been addressed with these new models.

Not sure if it has already been addressed but the screen is a touch screen and the only really bad thing about the placement of anything in the front seats is the cd player tucked underneath everything cause thats where it fits and not really well thought out if i had a choice i probably would have had the monitor flip back and reveal the cd slot but im no expert

No Toyota Corolla out back. Small truck and back seat.
Good looking and fun to drive.
Need to get the base engine for any chance at 30+ MPG fuel economy
