It's A Woman's Right To Choose & I CHOOSE To Be A Tradwife | MY EXTRAORDINARY FAMILY

GRACE is a ‘tradwife’ or a ‘traditional wife’. She and her husband Bradley believe in ‘traditional’ gender roles. Grace summarises her role as a tradwife as “putting my family’s needs first and their wants first.” The couple have four children together - Leo, eight, Autumn, three, Max, two and 16-month-old Lily. Bradley is the ‘primary breadwinner’ of the household and while he goes out to work, Grace looks after the home, prepares all the meals and does all the care for the children including homeschooling them. Grace has received a lot of judgement for leading a ‘tradwife’ lifestyle from people she knows. She said: “They make comments like ‘oh well, it sounds like you’re just a slave'.” Bradley is also subjected to negativity. He added: “I get a lot of pushback from women who think that I'm manipulative, I'm abusive, I'm controlling, I forced this on her.” The couple feel their belief and practice of gender roles has a ‘healthy’ impact on their children. Bradley added: “Now, if the girls grow up and they want to go see the world, they want to be girl bosses, I'm fine with that. But we have the rest of society to tell them they can do that. I think it's important for us to show them that there's an alternative.”

If you are a trad wife, please make sure your name is on the house, car, whatever, too. Make sure your husband make payments to your pension because you are missing out on a lot of that by not being in the work force. You have to make sure that you will not be financially screwed over if a divorce is to happen in the future ❤️ Talk financials now while the romance is still there, please, ladies😊

My husband and I lived like this for 35 years, then 11 years ago I was diagnosed with cancer. I’ve had 4 big surgeries. He has taken great care of me. He dose all the cooking, cleaning and shopping. That’s just what marriage and love is all about. I loved staying home with my children. I enjoyed cleaning and taking care of my husband. I did work for 10 years and I still did all the house, cooking and child care. Married almost 46 years. I married at the age of 15 and I would not change a day.

At least they don’t seem toxic like some of these other “trad families ”. She also has a background in childcare and child education, so it’s not like she’s been forced in a role she’s not interested in taking.

She’s actually in a higher position than the husband imo. All he does is go to work. Wife basically runs the house, not just work cooking and raising children but literally paying the bills and organizing all these schedules. She’s already a “girl boss”.

I think the only thing that bothers me about these kind of relationships, it seems sometimes the Dad’s aren’t too involved with their kids i.e. doing homework and things like that, which is sad.

A SAHM is a full-time job and easily gets overlooked. Cooking, cleaning, taking care of the kids as well as running the household while the husband is at work. If it works for them, who am I to question it

There's nothing wrong with this way of life but I think we all have to do what is good for us. My husband works and I homeschool but he and I both take care of the cooking and cleaning. Homeschooling is a full time job.

Only in my personal opinion I think it's always best for the children to be able to have that luxury of having their mother at home with them so she can nurture and take care of them and the father being able to come home after midday and have an awesome time with the children as well I think this is awesome I don't see anything wrong with it. I don't understand why it could be so Taboo in the eyes of many with women staying home and being able to spend that quality time with their children I think again that it is awesome and I think that it is beneficial for the children's lives in their future to know that their mother preferred to stay home with them and nurture them than to go work somebody's 9 to 5 job that will benefit her of nothing once many years go by.

You know what the real problem is? Acting like one way is better than another or one way is wrong and another way is right. There is no right or wrong! FYI - I found work to be WAY easier than taking care of multiple young kids…I feel like this isn’t stated enough. Going to work was a breeze and a break from the insanity of kids…not the other way around like men often say/imply.
