One important component of artificial intelligence is language. AI powers applications such as speech recognition, machine translation and virtual assistants like Siri and Alexa.

"AI is translating how we communicate, whether it's by voice, by writing, by the way we perceive the world, how we see and understand the world, how we hear, all our senses. It's what AI is replicating, really," Braga said.
