Another fly in the Mil-Spec series of flies. This is an easy-to-tie perdigon style fly great for imitating a lot of different nymphs and great on a Euro Nymphing Rig. It's also a great fly for a dry dropper rig!

I tie the same flies with red Hotspot. seems to be more effective in my waters. But, this is a beautiful fly too. I have some in yellow but keep going back to red.😊

In saltwater fly fishing we have a saying, “ If it ain’t got chartreuse, it’s got no use!” Should work here too.

Question: If perdigon flies sink so much better, why not just add the soft hackle over top of a fly like this to get the action/motion of a traditional fly, with the sink rate of a perdigon?

i know the perdiworm is a hybrid of that sorts, just considering for euro nymphing, getting the flies down fast and maintaining contact with the bottom, choosing fly patters that help with that is important.

Oh my goodness! I had my volume pretty loud and it is 1:30 in the morning and when that music came on I jumped so bad. I wonder if I woke up my parents?

Mil spec use to mean high tolerance then it turned into good enough with later generations. I was always old school tight tolerance kinda guy.

do you think this would work for pan fish as well? the only reason i`m asking is i have never used this fly, , it looks like it would work on those skinny waters where a "BIGGER" fly would scare the trout

Do you think the wing case is important on Perdigon's? I see many with and many without. I haven't had a chance to fish each kind enough to determine if there's a difference. They are just much easier and faster to tie without it.

I fish very selective trout on tail waters in NY - have you had success with this fly on tail waters?

I'm curious. Does the name "pellet" refer to commercial fish food used at hatcheries?

Old school traditionalist have to hate you on how easy you make it look without all the material you use to tie flies.
