This was actually my first smart speaker and having it in my kitchen and using it everyday for the past month, I can say, for the right person this $99 smart speakers offers a lot in terms of design, functionality and sound! Round design that is 3.3” tall with mesh fabric going all the way around. Cool touch surface on the top for media and Siri controls. Has a range of colourful LEDs communicate. I like the small unobtrusive design. It will fit in in any space, living room, kitchen, bedroom. Especially the white version up against a white wall, helping blend in. Let’s talk about what makes this smart speaker smart. Over time Siri has gotten more capable and being able to ask questions by simply saying the two word command to activate her is super easy. I have my HomePod mini setup in the kitchen and while cooking I use it to set a timer for the pasta, convert how many ML in a cup, or set a reminder to buy more pasta because I cooked it all. You can also use Siri to read you the morning news, look up a recipe online, send a message or even start a call. Also if you have multiple of these around the home you can use a feature called intercom to send an audio message to all HomePod mini’s in the home. Integrates with your other smart home accessories, such as lights, blinds, door locks etc. All of which can be controlled with the HomePod mini. If you have an Apple Music subscription or have a library of music in the music app like I do. You can ask Siri to play a specific song, music of an artist or even a genre. A feature I especially like is the ability to pull up a song on your iPhone and hold it close to the HomePod mini to instantly send it over and start playing on the HomePod mini. This is the kind of integration that Apple does like no other. Do bear in mind, this particular feature will only work with the iPhone 11 or newer. Importantly, in addition to this the HomePod mini can also be used as an audio output on any of your apple decides, whether it be you Mac or iPad, simply select it from the drop down menu. Letting you stream any audio, such as a YouTube video or Netflix show or music from Spotify. Ok but just as important as it’s smart features is the sound quality. Compared to other mini smart speakers like the Google Nest Mini or Amazon’s Echo dot. What set’s the HomePod mini apart most is the sound. Despite it small size, it can comfortably fill a small to medium size room. The V shaped EQ emphasises the highs and lows to give a vibrant sound profile that is a joy to listen to. 360 degree sound gives constant sound regardless from which angle you are facing
Like with any speaker, I suggest placing it in the corner of a room for best results, especially in terms of bass. Speaking of which Apple’s force‑cancelling passive radiators give HomePod mini a surprisingly deep and full bass. Highs are crystal clear, making voices sound natural. Mids are preset and balanced with zero distortion. Really impressive sound for such a small design. To take this even further you can pair two HomePod Minis to get a proper stereo sound with distinct left and right channels. Who is it for and is it worth it? HomePod mini is impressive, but to really take advantage of it’s smart features and in my opinion to justify the price, you need to have at least an iPhone. Much like the Apple Watch and Airpods, the HomePod mini is really meant for those who are already in the Apple ecosystem. And if you are, the HomePod mini offers an unmatched level of integration with Siri and your smart home devices all while offering exceptional sound, in a premium design that will feel at home in any room.

You bought the same color as myself! I just got one yesterday from the Apple Store. Excellent packaging and a perfectly seamless experience setting it up. I still need to read about all the possibilities with it! Comes with a USB-C adapter as well! I think USD $99 is a decent price, too, for what you get...great sound in literally 360 degrees and seamless integration with Siri...plus the awesomeness of being able to get 2 HomePods and get channel separation through them...as well as control Apple Home stuff via Siri and one's HomePod(s).

Just one thing, I have an iPhone XR and the feature of trasnfering music by touching the HomePod works with no issue, my wife has an iPhone 11 and it does work better but regardless, it works with the XR as well.

I use a Amazon Echo show, Echo Dot 3rd & 4th Gen, Amazon Echo 4th Gen, and the Apple Homepod Mini (in blue). I do like the HomePod but Siri lets it down big time. She needs to get a bit more of a personality and to be less abrupt with answers. Also with a lot of the question you ask it she won’t know the answer unless it is to do with a sports team in the USA. 🤣😂🤣 My advice go get an Amazon Echo. It’s compatible with more devices for now (until Matter comes along). Can’t use Amazon Music unless you airplay it from your phone. Just wish Apple would stop trying to be king of the Castle and actually look at what everyone else is doing regarding smart speakers and smart devices. 👍🏻👍🏻

hello, I would like to know compared to a jbl flip 4 what does it give (for audio quality) ?

If you use the homepod mini as a bedside device at night (like if you get it to play an audio book while trying to get to sleep), does the status light still shine when it's playing something? It seems like a flashing light in a dark room would be really distracting.
