Thank you! I have dyscalculia and none of the teachers in the 90s knew how to teach me. One even said that I'm a hopeless case. My sister was the only one able to teach me in a way that I understood. I just required more time to understand. I'm starting from basics to study maths again now as an adult and this was really helpful.

Not a lot of people understand this, especially students in our school system. Thank you for adding value to society sir!

You are a great teacher, I wish I had been taught this way when I was in school.

I've misunderstood this PEMDAS i thought do multiplication before division because it's M before D in the PEMDAS. THANKS!

With division I always use a vinculum to make it easier.

i think the last part is wrong, u should do is left to right because the multiply and division is equal or tied priority

Same order of operations, but I learned BEDMAS in school (Canada). (brackets, exponents, division, multiplication, addition, subtraction) -- very aware those aren't brackets and we made all our teachers aware that it's a stupid abbreviation.

It becomes clearer if you write using levels. A diagram like this shows that multiply and divide are one the same level and one does not take precedence over the other. Same for addition and subtraction.

5/4 = (4/4+1/4) = 1 1/4 ... In 👷🏻‍♂️construction, this is how it is done to arrive at the same answer.

Percentages: all went well in the video until algebra intervened. I don't understand the bit on "12 is 15% of what?". Basic algebra? I can't do algebra, basic or otherwise. On the other hand, not being able to do it has never, ever bothered me.
Working with fractions, "a skill you should know"? Not so: I can't work with fractions but I've never needed to. I never managed to calculate an LCD.
I can add or subtract fractions of the same kind, no more. Something like 3/7 + 2/7 etc.
I've NEVER had to calculate 10 1/2 + 1 3/4: my tape measure gives me inches or centimetres not 3/4 (or any other fraction) of anything. I don't know of any tape measure that has fractions on it.
Sometimes I try to understand a point in maths, as I did when I watched this. I was hoping for some basic explanations.
There is a bright side, however. The clip says these skills are necessary for "surviing in real life", but fortunately this is not the case.I don't possess these skills and yet I've never needed them.I've survived.
