First look at the UNICEF Operational Guidelines on Community-based mental health and psychosocial support in humanitarian settings: Three-tiered support for children and families" with Zeinab Hijazi, MHPSS Specialist for UNICEF, New York.

The guidelines were developed in response to emerging evidence on the determinants of children’s resilience, learnings from the evaluation of existing approaches, and the unique challenges that today’s crises pose for children’s safety, well-being, and optimal development.

They are meant to help agencies working with children to support and promote safe, nurturing environments for children’s recovery, psychosocial well-being, and protection, and provides a framework that emphasizes engaging actors at all levels (children, caregivers, families and community service providers) to design and implement #MHPSS strategies that are locally relevant, comprehensive and sustainable.

I found the guidelines reasonable and takes all the points that face MHPSS workers in the field but of course it needs time to apply all of them on the ground. Congratulations
