Awesome tutorial, man. I love being able to play this song, now! Thank you. I learned it the way you teach it, but I wasn't comfortable with wrapping my thumb around. I play those chords as bar chords instead. For those of you who are having a hard time with the thumb, I recommend it. It works and sounds the same to me :)

Hey man, I'm glad you're finding the lessons helpful. I don't normally do requests, but Proof is a really cool song and I don't think there are any tutorials for it on YouTube, so I'll make that my next Coldplay lesson. The chords are pretty straight forward (only 4 to play the whole song) but the tuning is quite obscure so that's the only tricky part. I'll give you a shout when it's up, hopefully by mid next week (, ")

If your guitar has a thicker neck or you simply can't get your thumb around, tune your G up 2 frets to match the 2 position and then play the second fret on the second chord for the verse piece

Cheers mate, great song great video best tutorial.
For anyone who's string snapped during detuning it's best to tune down a bit before up and make sure the bridge is free from obstruction or sticky as that's what causes the string to snap and they can be lethal take it from me lol

The use of the thumb is tricky but manageable. The fact that you’re doing it on a Seagull is really impressive. I had one but sold it because the neck was too wide for me.
