In the Aztec capital, there only were 600 conquistadors fighting against 100, 000 Aztec warriors - how do you think the conquistadors won? They had help of a bit more than 60, 000 indigenous warriors from different tribes that were oppressed by the Aztecs.

In other words, the conquest of the Aztecs was conducted by rival indigenous groups. Same happened with Incas.

Yeah they had big, heavy horses, steel weapons and armor and firearms, which surely helped them in skirmishes and battles but the only true weapon they had was diplomacy. We are talking about a few hundred dudes facing a very well organized army of hundreds of thousands, even if they had modern rifles, machine guns and mortars they'd get overrun sooner or later. The only reason they were able to take these empires was because they raised hundreds of thousands of natives seeking to destroy the centralized power that those empires represented. These local powers did the vast majority of the actual fighting on behalf of the Conquistadores who were way too small in numbers to actually have any impact on a strategic, military level
