Truly one of the most beautiful songs ever written.

“And I dreamed your dream for you and now your dream is real.”

It's an open G tuning with a capo on the third fret. That Knopfler is a tricky bastard

After four weeks of playing the intro I'm now ready to move on to the main verses - never in my wildest dreams would I have thought I could play this song a big thankyou Justin from Richard in Australia.

Justin, I put my guitar down for about 15 years. I started watching guitar lessons on YouTube and discovered you. I love your teaching style, which is one of the best I’ve found. I also appreciate the variety of songs, many of which I am compelled to learn. I’m just toughing up my fingers again and once I do I’m yours. Love what you do. Thank you.

Just wanted to say that this was the first fingerstyle song I learned start to finish, and the first song I ever learned to sing while playing, thanks to your video. Took me a couple of months to get it down before I was ready to play it and sing it for my girlfriend, but I doubt I could have done it without your lesson!

Can't thank you enough!

Been a year since I played guitar thanks to a bad string of accidents (gas bottle explosion that left me in a coma, then chopped off the end of my right middle finger, then accidentally planted a knife in the thumb of my left hand, both necessitating a lot of stitches. I've been struggling to find a good song to get back into it, till I found this little gem!! Cheers Justin!!! Love your enthusiasm - keep sharing it!!!!

Justin is an amazing guitar player and a great teacher. I'm also amazed at his patience to break down every note of a song so others can follow along. I've learned to play dozens of songs from watching his videos over the years and I'm grateful, although I must admit I still suck at playing it's given me hours of personal enjoyment. :)

I've been playing for thirty years and I had trouble picking this one up. But after a couple weeks of practice, it clicked. Now I can't stop playing it, to the point where my kids tell me to play something else. Such a lovely song. Thanks, Justin!

I'm in my late 60s, and being playing guitar professionally for many years. I thought I was beyond needing online tuition, but this has proved me wrong! I've been struggling to work out the way to play R & J for years, but Justin has made it so easy. I now have no problem with the open tuning or left hand fingering, but I AM a pick user and fingerstyle is not one of my strong points. But I'm practising this now until I perfect it! Thanks Justin!!!

Among all the video tutorial of youtube, you're the best one. Always smiling, kind, explaining the lessons clearly, and of course with a great sound. Keep doing this!

We appreciate it!

That lesson was so good. The performance at the end was great as well and really shows your appreciation for Mark Knoppler’s genius. Very well done Justin. You’re a great resource for all of us basement guitar players.
