If you really want accuracy. Put a mark on the wall at the same height across the room make sure you add the height of the table and the center of camera lens from the table. Turn on cross hairs on your osd and line it up through your goggles.

As I sit here beginning to watch the video I say to myself grab something with a straight edge and lay flat against the camera then use the protractor to measure the angle. Then you go and use the gyro on the FC itself to measure it, Mind Blown. But really awesome little tip that I would not have thought of doing. Thanks for all these Josh and keep it up, I wouldn't be flying if it wasn't for some of your videos :)

Great tip! It's even easier/more precise if you use a piece of blue painter's tape stuck vertically to a wall to use as a reference - 6" is enough. You can then hold the quad about a foot from the wall/tape and angle it while watching the bezel of the lens to align it parallel to the tape edge.

Another tip is to download an Angle app that turns your phone into a level. Rest your phone on top or bottom of the quad and tilt the quad until the desired angle, then adjust the camera to be as horizontal as you can

I never thought to use cleanflight for this - great idea!

3:04 I was flying on a sim and I noticed once you’re in the high degrees you have to adjust how you turn

Was just about to order a protractor. Glad that I google "Joshua Bardwell measure camera angle" first 👍👍👍

You are a number man and i respect it - sitting and watching this i wonder how much the crud on your copter weights? :)

Hey Joshua, ever thought about optimal angle? I did some math a while back and calculated that a hypothetic copter (4kg thrust, 400g weight) flying max forward speed without sinking will need a standard 90° FOV FPV cam tilted at 35° so that the pilot will still see some horizon on the top of the screen.
Ever since this finding I always tilt my cams to 35°, because it looks as the optimal angle - from technical point of view.

Thanks Josh! "Equals more Awesome". Words to live by.

Here's a tip back at ya: Steele Brushes. A good quick scrub cleans all that dirt and dried grass clippings off the quad and takes just a few minutes. A clean quad is a Godly quad. I'm just sayin'.

+Joshua Bardwell What are you using to hold your xiaomi yi in place?

You have guys like matty that gets the mind bending, trippy footage at 60 degrees.
And on the other end of the spectrum, you have guys like Steele that can put on a freestyle clinic with less than 30 degrees tilt.

Then you have guys like me that can set their tilt anywhere in between with mediocre results 🤔

What angle do you mount your secondary (not fpv) camera at?

I don't know I've never had a problem finding flat surfaces with a protractor. Sometimes it does take some messing around. Great tip though

Right, ive just got into FPV and to start off set my uptilt of my hs1177 to 15 degrees or so.
im accustomed to that but i would like to up that a little bit to get more speed.
do yuo think i should gradually increase that by a bit every time or jump strait to 25-30??
thanks

I also use an app called protractor. It uses your camera and super imposes a protractor that tou can control over it.
