Ditch Your Chalk Line, Scribe Instead #shorts

This isn't a new technique for many of you, but for some others it might be. A drywaller taught me this when I was in my teens, though they use knives instead of pencils 😂😂

One feature I love about the Milwaukee tape is the spot on the underside for my finger, but I ride the tape against the material. No one wants splinters 😁

It is only faster on straight lines.
So don’t throw your chalk line out you’re gonna need it for your angles

Just be sure to scribe against a factory edge. If the edge is crooked, your cut will be crookeder

Now let's see the drywallers actually cut holes for the outlets.

Duct tape around the finger(or just build the callus). I can feel the edge better. Sometimes the pliability of the skin helps give or take an 1/8 or so. Just sayin

Learned that from my dad at 14 for siding installation.

Same trick works for cutting drywall, and you can just skip the scribe. You can brace the knife on your tape, or a drywall T- square.

I always wrapped the finger that drags against the material with electrical tape, band-aid first when I was the cut man.

We’ve done this in sweden for literally decades, but we usually do it with folding rules not tape measurers

So I’ve learned some thing.. I own this tape and I scribe everyday all day and it never occurred to me that was a guard for your finger
