Only half way through and wanted to say, love the acknowledgement to those who do 9-5! So important. Thanks Holly! :-)

You CAN do hard things Holly!! 💖 I’ve done a few Triathlons, and my parents are mad obsessed with it, so a couple of things I’ve learned along the way:
1. Anxiety in the water is real. It may be worth doing a couple of “extra” pool sessions a week that aren’t structured or planned, and just get comfy experimenting with your breath and emotions in the water. That way you aren’t pressured by how many laps or what pace you’re doing, etc.
2. The cap is designed to keep your hair back, not dry. But, if you get a tight cap, you can “double cap” (I know this all sounds super lame haha) and it might help with your hair staying dry. Also be super mindful of chlorine with blonde hair, maybe look into the best way to keep it super healthy if you’re in the pool a lot. Personally I can’t relate being brunette but I know my friends had their hair colour tinge a bit.
3. You CAN do it, and it’s not a case of not being able to do a tri just because you’re a new swimmer. You can swim as SLOW as you like. All you have to do is get through it. It’s very uncommon that there’s cut off times for disciplines (usually only big events or Ironman events), so my plan was always just to stay *calm and cool* in the swim so I can shine in the “on-land” disciplines 😂

Happy to give all the advice I’ve learned. When I had to do my first one 10 years ago in PE class in Year 12, I couldn’t swim AT ALL. It was embarrassing and hard and came with lots of emotions. But I did it, and I’ve done lots and lots of hard things like that which have paid off so much, including introducing Mum to triathlon (and teaching her how to swim) who is now an IRONMAN finisher!! She never learnt to swim as a kid because she had a near drowning experience when she was young.

Long long comment (sorry), but it’s all very relatable, so I know for a fact you can do this ✨

So excited to follow along with your triathlon journey! I wanted to say thank you for your comments about everyone being different/ Content being your job. You really are so mature and empathetic to say this - it’s really refreshing to see someone online acknowledge that flexibility isn’t the same for everyone and be encouraging about trying what you can fit in/doing what’s realistic for you and being proud of that ❤

GIRL, I'm just going to jump on the train of everyone else here who said how amazing it is that you acknowledge how hard it can be to workout after a 9-5! I LOVE being in the gym, but sometimes it is so hard to get there after a long day. I have to remind myself sometimes that the ladies I watch here do this for a LIVING, they aren't doing a whole job then going after work. You are so inspirational and lovely to watch! Thank you for doing what you do!! ❤

So here for the swimming content! Swim caps control your hair, make you more streamline and stop hair going into the pool. Definitely doesn't keep you dry! And the effect of swimming on your lung capacity will be amazing for your running 🙌🏻

I don't think you understand how much your videos help and motivate us! My husband recently relapsed, and I took it really hard. It's easy to wallow in sorrow and eat bad and not exercise when you're depressed but your videos inspired and motivated me to not miss a day working out, to rest, to give myself love and to eat well. Thank you so much for doing what you do. I've never been into running, but I'm seriously thinking about starting 😊. Love you! ❤

Happy for your new journey. I’m sure you’ll smash it.
And thx for pointing out that with a 9 to 5 it’s difficult to train for those things. Social media often gives the feeling everyone has to do it.

Omg! Just found you on YouTube and have been binging your videos only to just discover we ran the same half marathon in Yosemite last month! I spotted my campsite in one of the shots 😂
It was so beautiful, so happy to have seen it from your perspective! 😇

i don't work a 9-5 but working full time with very laborious job on my feet, i appreciate the mention that many influencers are inspiration and not aspirational for some. wish i had that time to workout lmao! someday :))

Holly! I love watching your videos. You are so motivating. Describing your self limiting beliefs and how you just say no to them. I have done 2 half marathons this year thanks to you. I am signing up for a fall marathon. You make me believe I can do it. I love how you make your audience (me) feel like I am with you. Also how grateful you are for your experiences is so refreshing and relatable. Keep it up!

Also in open water triathlons there are lifeguards in kayaks every few metres all around the course keeping an eye for anyone who just needs a rest/gets cramp, as well as obviously to pull anyone out who needs help, so if the worst happens on the day you can can still know you’re not in danger. I find that having them there really helps me to keep calm in the open water, hopefully it helps you too :) ❤️

YAY!!! I started running last year and you were one of my first inspos into doing my first marathon and ultra marathon! Then a week after I ran Berlin marathon (again, my first marathon) I signed up for the Ironman 70.3 😂. I’m also a complete triathlon newbie and have been teaching myself to swim and bike more effienciently! LOVEEE seeing you also entering into the triathlon space and giving it a go! It’s like we are sports twinsies hehe

That Yosemite half looked amazing! I’ve done the Grand Tetons half through the same company and it was an incredible experience. Now I want to do as many of their races as possible. Good luck on your triathlon!

I haven’t watched you for very long, I’d say 5 months, but in that 5 months you have completely changed my mindset and can honestly say I think I am a better person because of you. You’re absolutely smashing it. Please never stop!!! Can you post some meal ideas and how to make them (I’m so fussy and really struggling) and also some newbie gym ideas please💗never stop being you🫶🏽🫶🏽

I have been doing triathlons for years. I do not need all those accessories to begin. Im happy for you and love your content. All you need is goggles a cap and a bike. I am frugal but I believe starting q new hobby just test before purchasing everything. ❤

don't worry about the swimming!! it always feels so hard getting into it but with your fitness you'll find it SO much easier within 2 weeks!! also, when we used to have long sets we'd write them on small whiteboards and put them at the end of the lane - just so you don't have to keep getting out to check your set! You're doing amazing! Good luck! x
