4 Feet African Cichlid Tank Setup

My wife gifted me this 120 Gallon (450L) 4 feet fish tank on my birthday this year. It’s dimensions are:

Length- 4 feet (48 inches)
Height- 2 feet (24 inches)
Depth (width)- 2 feet (24 inches)

To my surprise, she also asked the vendor to build an internal sump filter in this aquarium, which is 2ft in length and can hold a lot of media for good filtration.

When I received the tank, I had no idea she had also booked the fish for me. She has booked 20 African cichlids for me, and I’m excited to receive them. But the delivery will take some time.

In this video, I’ve set up my 120g African cichlid tank, and the rocks and sands are also a birthday gift. My wife gifted me everything I needed for this setup.

The rocks I’ve used in this setup are quite heavy, so I had to handle them with care. The water got a little cloudy at first, but with the help of two internal filters, it got cleared up in less than 24 hours.

The tank is getting cycled now, and I’m waiting for my African cichlids to arrive. Currently, I don’t know if I’ll get peacock cichlids, haps, or Mbuna, but I’m excited to find out!

Chichild will transfer sand here and there and your sump inlet is at bottom of the tank and sand may stuck inside it

Pls keep the rocks on the glass bottom on a styrophene.... cichlids will dig underneatg and will cause rocks to fall

i like the design but you could have add small stones or crushed to give more detail and give more natural look

You should have put thermacole below the rocks.
