Along with the development of new methods of travelling between cities, in this particular case fast trains, a new problem has arised. Some people argue that an additional amount of money should be invested in this field, whereas others believe that it is more reasonable to redirect this money on developing existing public transport systems. I’ll try to consider both options and give my opinion on this topic.

FIrstly, I would like to take a look at the possibility of improving structures that are already implemented in cities. The great advantage of refining the public transport system is that there will be no need in replanning areas nor creating new roads. It will result in mitigating the problem of congested roads and will possibly lead to an increase in the total passenger flow that can travel from one city to another. However, it would also signify that it would be even less financially justified to create new lines in the future since greater amounts of money would have been invested in existing ones.

Let’s now try to understand the pros and cons of building a completely new infrastructure, letting trains appear as an advanced means of transport. First of all, it would considerably lessen the amount of time required to move due to increased speed. However, it might also lead to higher prices per ticket. Hence, it would take some time before price policy would change for the better. Another important point that should be taken into consideration is that creating new lines might become the first step of complete restructuring of the system we’ve got used to, providing us with the possibility of using them as a first layer for further improvements.

Overall, I want to conclude that as for me, building new railway lines is the best way in which we can use money although it will bring us some challenges we’ll have to overcome. Anyways, I believe that it’s just a matter of time before what we are used to nowadays will be replaced with completely new technologies, so it’s better to begin the process as soon as possible.
