Zero - Part 1

In a world that judges people by their number, Zero faces constant prejudice and persecution. He walks a lonely path until a chance encounter changes his life forever: he meets a female zero. Together they prove that through determination, courage, and love, nothing can be truly something.

Zero has screened in over 50 festivals and has won 15 awards, including 'Best Animation' from LA Shorts Fest and the Rhode Island International Film Festival, and has been nominated for an AFI Award in the 'Best Short Animation' category.

Since its YouTube premiere on May 25, 2011, Zero has been translated into over 40 languages by its many enthusiastic fans.

I just noticed how the lower your number, the more messy your yarn is wrapped. All the 9s, 8s, and 7s had perfect horizontal lines, where the 1s and 2s had more diagonal and vertical yarn. Nice touch!

I like how only the zeros had brown yarn that truly set them apart, and at the end the baby had brown yarn while still being the highest number. Just really shows the beauty of this short film ❤️

Most people see this as anti-bullying and all that, but I personally find this to be more representative of the caste system. (A system in India where people in society are divided into different social classes) The higher numbers, let’s say 9 & 10, being the Brahmin, the highest rank and most successful. The tad bit lower numbers, let’s say 7 & 8, being the Kshatriyas, the second-highest rank. 5 & 6 could be the Vaishyas. 1-4 the Sudra. And finally, zeros being the Dalit, the lowest rank. They’re the poorest of the caste system, and used to be so hated that they were called “Untouchables”, which is a very dehumanizing term. I honestly don’t know that much about the caste system, so I probably got some things wrong, but that’s what this video reminded me of.

This story made me think of myself as a 0, unloved and unwanted. That is until he met her. The truth is, it doesn't matter if you're a 0 or a 10, you're worth something to someone.

The most beautiful part I liked is his smile and his perseverance .. like little things made him forget his sorrow and how he smiled back
looking at butterfly, children playing, small birds etc ..
