Pathfinder Top 5 Ways to Gather Information

Welcome to D6damage. Today I’m counting down my top five ways to gather information in game. We all get stuck from time to time and just need that one clue to put us back on track. I’ll be covering the tips and tricks to keep your adventuring party well informed.

Played a Chaotic Good necromancer wizard with a few ranks into Profession: Detective. Never used any of the evil descriptor spells or forced the dead to do anything they didn't want. Speak With Dead was key to solving a few cases. Turns out the dead really like to talk or at least those who lived in major cities.

I've only tried getting info from somebody once, and I was an Ifrit Druid. so after the guy was secured, in the middle of a standard interregation, they left. and suddenly my earth-elemental shaped druid, covered in swarms of bees and on fire, slammed from the cieling and turned into a giant flailing many-vined plant monster (with bees and fire, thanks ifrit spells and cloak of wasps) half a foot from him. my grabbing tentacles and screeching questions got results once I forced him back conscious and convinced him I'd been summoned to drag him to hell, but would merely consume him and leave no trace if he submitted.

Other than that, I will always say shapeshifting is the best. Birds, cats, and best of all earth elementals inside the wall, let you get info easily from anyone.

My Warpriest has made fantastic use of "Ears of the City".

My gm and eventualy even i picked this up liked to use Speak with dead spell as if it summons a spectral ghost of the person your speaking to (Kinda like in say arcanum of steamworks and magik obscura. I love this spell now with that flavor text added to it.

you can use a library to have a bonus to your knowledge checks gather facts and lore


funilly enough, you can get masterwork tools for any skills including reasearch and diplomacy. For a +2 circunstance bonus

Good old fashioned diplomacy! Often underused by pc's.
