Amos Principle 3: God’s Coming Judgment

We should take very seriously God’s warnings that judgment will eventually come on all who continue in sin and ignore His plan of salvation.

We should take very seriously God's warnings that judgment will eventually come on all who continue in sin and ignore His plan of salvation. We have been entrusted with the gospel message, with sharing the good news that Jesus saves (John 3:16 and elsewhere), that He is the way, the truth, the life and no one gets to Heaven (to the Father) except through Him (Jesus) (John 14:6). We need to let those who have yet to say 'yes' to Jesus know that they are not promised tomorrow, that Christ could return at any moment ("like a thief in the night, " I Thessalonians 5:2; II Peter 3:10), so it's important to be ready, to have the assurance that our eternal destination is Heaven and joy, not Hell and torment. We believers need to be the witnesses that Jesus commanded we be (Acts 1:8). If we believers watch at the Great White Throne Judgment, of those who rejected Jesus as Savior, we do not want to see someone we knew on earth, someone with whom we failed to share the gospel. We need to live holy lives, while here, because no one is going to take seriously the gospel message given by someone who is 'holy' on Sunday but lives like the devil the rest of the week.
