It’s entertaining watching people from outside the UK try to intellectualise separate British genres

This isn't Donk. Donk is UK Hard House, and shares a lot of similarities to Russian Hard Bass.

Definitely not donk, donk is it's own genre, originating in hard house, hardcore and 'scouse house', it's popular in northen England

Basically a Ukhardcore drop but I’ve always thought ukhardcore and Dnb go well together, also that isn’t a donk, it’s an offbeat bass a donk is specific type of offbeat bass. Listen to ukbounce/scousehouse it’s full of donks

How can people try calling it donk tho, when donk is allready a dance music genre of its own, and has been for the last 20 years, it has nothin to do with dnb

unpopulair opinion > Donk drop edits of tracks ruin the energy of the original

Well, considering some jump up is 4/4 kick snare, and a good amount of technoid also frequents 4/4 probably

D&B is more syncopated. It's easier to find the half time with D&B.

The second donk is soo much better. Idk if it's DnB, but it's so good.

This isn't really donk, in the UK donk typically referred to a very particular off beat bass sound effect, which then kinda became it's own cheesy genre, but not much faster than 150bpm usually.
What you're showing here is UK Hardcore. Some people call it happy hardcore but typically that refers to the much earlier stuff. When the rave scene split, one direction was drum and bass/jungle, the other direction was happy hardcore which become UK Hardcore. UK Hardcore limps on but is basically a dead genre. It seems like certain drum n bass DJs (particularly Dimension) are feeling nostalgic for the genre and are using it in their dnb tracks. They're both the same bpm so why not. The problem is a lot of dnb folks hated the cheesy style of hardcore around 2009 so I'm not sure why it's being used now. I guess because no one else is?

I am not a fan of DnB whatsoever, but I actually prefer it to the 'Donk' example, which just sounds like overly aggressive techno with the 4 x 4 kick. Nice running too!

the "donk" stuff has a lot of early hardstyle/hardtrance vibes imo.

same thing is happening in the techno scene with heavy influences from (hard)trance and hardstyle being incorporated into modern releases. this has caused a pretty big divide in the scene, because nobody can agree what techno even means anymore 😅
