1969, driving his truck in the mountain with the window down, knocked unconscious with his eye brows and eye lashes burned off.
1970, in his front yard, shoulder seered.
1972, in a Ranger station, hair burned off.
1973, he saw storm clouds gathering, he got in his truck and ran from it. When he thought it to be safe, he stepped out of his truck and zap. Burned legs and singed hair.
1976, struck again, ankle injury and hair burned again.
1977, fishing for trout, hair on fire with burnt chest and stomach. A bear had moved in to steal his fish, and while his hair was on fire, he fought off the bear with a branch.
Later in life he was a very lonely man. People steered clear of him for fear that they would be struck by lightning. Its thought to be because of this, as well as the fear of being struck again, that on September 28th 1983, he took his own life at the age of 71.
