I like that you're going back to basics rather than explaining more about card counting. It's a nice welcome to those who are new to this channel.
Here's how I explain hitting vs. standing on hard totals to new players:
Fours, fives, and sixes are up cards that most frequently bust, so you never hit anything that can bust. Sevens and higher don't bust often, so you hit up to 16s. Twos and threes are kind of in-between, so you hit on 12s but nothing higher.

About 20 years ago when I first started playing blackjack I would ask others at the table what their thoughts were when I wasn’t sure what to do. This one older lady told me on soft 18 you play with it till it’s hard 😂

Hitting 12v2 and 12v3 and Soft 18 vs 9, 10, A = instant verbal abuse from other ploppies. 😂Gotta have a thick skin for this game!

the production quality of these videos is very impressive. the sound and lighting are excellent but i don't think i've seen anyone comment about that before. and the editing is also top-notch of course, and it seems to keep getting better and better with new videos. thanks for putting in all the effort Colin.

I hardly ever play blackjack and am definitely not a card counter but I feel good about my play after watching this. The 2 things I have been doing wrong are staying on a soft 18 and not doubling on an 11 against a 10 ( I do against an ace because I know it's not a 10 underneath). Thanks for the tips.

Guilty of the splitting 9s vs 7. It always gets me, it's the one hand. In my mind for some reason no matter how much I remind myself, my gut instinct is split. But I have to slow down.

Your advice about hitting on 15 and hitting on 12 to lose less. More often than not, my next card put me in a better position. I got a pair of 9's that I did not split, kept the 18 and won! I stayed away from insurance and side bets. I won $300. And most of all I didn't try to chase more money after a few losses. I left the casino as soon as I had a profit.

Love your video. It reaffirms the strategy that I had developed on my own.
I would like to add a few things:
Never be afraid to leave a table if it turns "cold", or if others join and they play the game in a way that you don't like. Remember, it is your money.
If you like the table and the people you are playing, but the cards turn cold, just lower your bet if you want to keep playing at that table.
When you start playing, set a limit on when you should leave. And that includes winning. I have left the casino in 15 minutes at times if it feels off.

What I love about blackjack is you can be above/about average with the basics and it's not a stretch to be good with experience... and that's without any kind of card counting.

I like to play Blackjack since it has one of the lowest house advantages if played right. Knowing the odds on a hand and being disciplined about how you should play that hand is key to keeping that house advantage to a minimum. Easier said than done. I got several good tips from this video! As far as card counting, it seems most casinos today have strategies to counter that with such things as using machines that constantly re-shuffle the decks for instance.

Very good information with my over four decades worth of experience working for the house many of these people really need to know how to properly play the game of blackjack the right way...aka high low.

I thought I played pretty much perfect basic strategy just to realize I’ve been playing soft 18 wrong in many circumstances! Thanks for the great video as always

I’m one! Learned 45 years ago. Do u know about counting groups of cards instead of 1 at a time? I was taught counting groups of cards! There r only 6 groups of cards u ever see on a BJ table!!

Would love to see a video on Spanish 21. I actually learned it before I learned basic blackjack. To my understanding, it's slightly better for the player but harder to play basic strategy.

One time I had a soft 18 vs. dealer 10. Dealer looked at me strange when I chose to hit, and said multiple times "that is 18" before she dealt the card. I ended up having to get dealt 4 more cards, and got to 21. The entire table, including the dealer, looked at me like I was a magician lmao

Is there an advantage to tipping a dealer? Will they help you later? Like maybe “miscount” and “accidentally” pay you after you lose? Other than feeling generous after a win, do we tip just to be nice to a low-income employee?

I'm a dealer and people get upset when another player asks what they're supposed to do and I tell them they should hit a 12 against a 3 or hit a soft 18 against a 10. Those are definitely the two most common ones experienced players have very strong and wrong opinions about.

I’ve been a roulette player but coming across your basic strategy guide has been golden. I usually play online fanduel blackjack and I’ve run up to $1500 just off $40 using this strategy chart. Thanks bro

Mindset is more important for me I've been a counter but for me counting became a way to the next level beyond counting the best way to play an individual hand is remember to not lose what you already won

Good video and very good to see I had most of them correct. The only part that leaves me thinking is the hit on 15 or 16 if the dealer has a 10. If you hit, you risk busting or hitting a low card (A, 2, or 3) and still can end up losing. I would rather take only one risk and hope the dealer busts.
