There is majesty in the air as Nick and Ange welcome TV royalty to Dish HQ. Dame Joanna Lumley was born in India, she attended boarding school in the UK before beginning a career in modelling in the 1960s. She transitioned into acting with early roles in Coronation Street and The New Avengers before becoming a household name as Patsy Stone in Absolutely Fabulous—a role that earned her three BAFTA awards.

Joanna loves to travel and is celebrated for her TV documentaries exploring Japan, India, the Nile, the Silk Road, and the Trans-Siberian Railway. In film, she lent her voice to Tim Burton animations, including Corpse Bride and James & the Giant Peach, and starred in Martin Scorsese’s The Wolf of Wall Street. Now, she brings her charm and wit to her latest series, Amandaland—a spin-off of Motherland available on BBC iPlayer now.

Nick pours Joanna an elderflower pressé while Angela prepares parsnip gnocchi with sage & garlic mushrooms. The experts at Waitrose pair this with an Italian white wine, La Monetta Gavi Piedmont.

Joanna Lumley takes us behind the scenes working on Absolutely Fabulous, her tips on the secret to long lasting love, being a Valentine’s prankster plus the juicy details of a memorable kissing scene with a famous actor.

Angela just seems so friendly!! Makes me wanna have a chat session with her once! Hear all her cooking stories. She cooks also so efficiently (I'm no chef but I feel the way she cooks is quite quick and efficient).. I wanna learn from her 😂

I wish I were half as humble as Angela. I could beat an egg and be as airy as a braggart. Look at how appreciative she is with simple feedback!

I learned (in Italy) to roll them over a fork for the ridges if one doesn't have the ...thingy. And yes, the thumb indentation is important for them to cook evently. Egg is not typically used, only if the potatoes aren't very starchy...

Saying this with so much love and appreciation for Angela and Nick - the food, the laughs, the rapport keep me in love with you… but Angela, ‘Knock-ee’?! I can hear my Nonna rolling in her grave.

That looks blinking lovely, really delicious... if you ever plant sage in your garden, always put them into a large container, because their root system just goes wild, and grows everywhere, and you can't get rid of it... I could listen to Joanna Lumley chat with others all day long... she is incredibly interesting to listen to...
