The REAL Reason Kirk Franklin Performed for BET

Kirk Franklin has a slew of classic gospel songs and is not shy about his work for the Lord. But as of recently, Kirk Franklin has made some questionable decisions, such as performing at the BET Awards and spitting some bars for a BET cypher. The issue isn't rapping it's what he said in the rap that has many people scratching their heads... Kirk Franklin needs to be held accountable for this. In this video, I provide my thoughts on the lyrics in question and why I believe he's conducting himself in this manner.

I was a young child when I first heard his music and I liked it because it was fun and positive but I saw a change happening with him 6 years ago at a concert and he admitted to being an hour late on stage because the crowd wasn’t packed. He had an attitude on stage and seemed off and then lied about doing a meet and greet to those who gave donations to a charity he was promoting. We waited over an hour outside in the cold only to find out he left and was not doing any meet and greets. Since then I’ve seen things become more and more strange and worldly. We have to pray for him and Artist like him.

This is not surprising to me. His music has never glorified Christ in my opinion. It’s always been worldly which is why the BET awards has always welcomed him. If he made songs about sin, repentance, and the true gospel, he would not have a platform as big as he does.

Also I love this. Gone are the times of "I'm just an artist"...i love that people are thinking critically but also being led by the Spirit of God to discern the spirits in this music, the artists, and these lyrics. Holding the music up to the light of the Word of God to see if it's true or not
