“You can’t give them everything to break”. Pain inflicted by a parent is heartbreaking.

🗣️Toxic mothers are not discussed enough, especially in the Black community. We always hear the saying…”You only get one mother”…and a select few of us are happy because another one like that one would be too much! If you can’t relate, consider yourself lucky! 💯

This is what happens with family in general, you can't be around people that hate you. Forgive them and Love them from a distance.

It’s so refreshing to hear his story and know I’m not alone. I haven’t spoken to my mother in over 17 years. This is a woman that is never happy of my achievements and constantly comparing me to my siblings. I remember buying her gifts at Christmas and she wouldn’t even open them. Years later the unopened gift is left on her dresser. She would give me the silent treatment for weeks because I wanted to be a Christian. When I graduated from College she said she wasn’t going to attend because I invited my biological father to attend. When I got my first corporate job she asked me if it’s a graduate job because my sibling has a graduate job. When I told her it wasn’t, she didn’t even say congratulations. Toxic mothers are draining and it’s only by God’s grace that my mental health was not shattered.

“At some point you have to save what is still together. You can’t give them everything to break.”That’s a WORD!

I too was told my mom almost aborted me. It was in a conversation about my father and their relationship. Being birthed between two selfish parents has been extremely difficult and harder to process. What I have learned is 1. They're not my responsibility 2. I'm meant to live in peace and not pieces.

I found my Mama's body Jan 2 this year. She abused me in every way, I have cigarette burn marks from her. Thank God for my Daddy. When she left him she only abused me, I'm the oldest. She let her brothers molest me. Fast forward I'm a college graduate and do a lot for children, homeless, etc. I never had children because I was afraid of what would happen to them. I'm 50 now and grieving her, finding her, her not loving me and I was never enough. 2 degrees with a 3.8 GPA just NEVER ENOUGH. I forgive her, I even took her Dvds she borrowed back to the Library. All praises to the Most High, Ancestors and my Daddy Simeon Yoab Israel. Yah Guide ❤

I used to tell my family all the time, my Mother didn't like me. From a child she didn't like me and I never understood why. I'm 46 and we're still not ok. It's quite sad but apparently, it made me a loving, caring mother to my 4. I felt everything Kirk was saying.

You’re supposed to honor your father and mother, but the rest of that says that parents should not provoke their children either !

A toxic mother is worse than a absent father

Thank you Kirk Franklin. Kirk was my youth minister in Los Angeles (Faithful Central) over a decade ago and he was so amazingly loving, understanding, positive and he would always encourage me to overcome my dad wounds, because he could relate, having mother wound. I still appreciate every hug, smile, kiss on the cheek and kind act.

Unfortunately, there are mothers who will always choose a man before their own children. Lonely, broken people who choose self always. Forgive and let them go.

She s a birther, not a mother . Mothers nurture and sacrifice for their kids.
But Kirk is whole because of Christ, not because of any human.
