Ecuador has the most savory food in the world. I stayed at Bahia De Caraquez for several days There was a lady that served breakfast from her home, you ate outdoors. She has this side relish dish that was wonderful…made from pickles and onions. I wished I had taken a picture of this relish or asked her how she made it…it was super yummy. I think it has aji peppers in it too. Anybody else ever ate this while in Ecuador?

@Ayngelina Hi there! I am really impressed by your videos and charming personality! I am an Ecuadorian-American originally from Guayaquil who emigrated to the US at 4 y.o. I grew up eating a lot of those tasty dishes that you present. Just an FYI, what many Hispanics in the US know as sofrito, we Ecuadorians know as “refrito.” My maternal grandparents are originally from Los Rios province. My mom and I are both from Guayaquil. We would frequently hit the beach in Playas and Salinas. I am slowly but surely getting to know more of my native land and its varied cuisine. My mom and I have begun to explore the coast of Manabi province during our vacations. She introduced me to camotillo and we stayed in Bahia de Caraquez prior to the earthquake. As an aside, my grandfather’s grandfather came from Galicia, Spain and entered Ecuador via Bahia de Caraquez. Thank you for helping me get in touch with the gastronomic side of my “Manaba” heritage!
