Hey Eddie, great video. It would be nice if you could do a video on your security setup

Another great video. Completely agree about using Unifi Protect with Homebridge and HomeKit - it just works and has been very stable with only a few tweaks. Please do a security plugin video!

Great video as always! Any reason why you chose homebridge over scrypted for the HomeKit integration of the unifi cameras?

Videos have been a big help thank you.. Do see a high CPU load on the PI5? with 8 or more cameras? Does the latest Version support Pi5 Hardware Offload?

Hey Eddie, I’d be really interested to know more about your home security setup. I have unifi protect at my home (w ten cameras) and I just get overwhelmed with useless notifications. I’d love to add some basic intelligence, specifically a hybrid of scheduled and geographical based (ie if I’m asleep or away from home, I want know about anyone walking my house but, if not, mute notifications otherwise.
I have been unable to find any videos of anyone doing either for unifi protect, hksv or other intermediary apps like scripted.
I think such a video would be
useful for many people.

Do you have the unifi "Protect all in one sensor" on the doors? To show if the door opens/closes. If so, is it possible to have the doorbell chime or alarm if the door is opened?

hey Eddie how do you have HB menu on the left side with all options, on Safari it’s always on top right side - I choose different theme but never goes on left side . Thanks

Thanks, Eddie. It's time to UniFi! and Upgrade to a Pi 5. There's evidently much more ability going this route than to use static HomeKit cameras.

Whats the delay on notifications and live camera feed comparing HomeKit and viewing directly on Unifi Protect?

Hi, thanks for the video. Total newbie here with a question. You talk about setting activity zones and doorbell messages in Protect. Once I have setup Homebridge and Apple home, if I need to adjust any of those in protect how do you update Apple Home?

When you're not at home, can you still access your cameras?

Thanks and very good project!
Espero que entendas isto também, muito BOM.

Does the cameras, home ridge, apple tv’s etc need to be on the same VLAN?

Nice. I’ll have to have a look into it. I’ve got a nest battery doorbell at the moment but I can’t workout how to integrate it into HomeKit using homebridge? Any advice or help would be appreciated

Eddie, before I start a brand new install as I have home assistant so will need homebridge. just a new sd card. a big question is will this install require a unified hardware to start or can I progress immediately to the HSV part of this install. I am all in on Wyze cams and looking for HSV that canoe applied immediately. Scripted has been stable but the add ons I need are missing. maybe this unifi solution can deliver what I need as long as I don't need further investment. lol costs are one of your 4 reasons for your solutions on your channel :). I do enjoy your channel for years but progress has been made all round with more and more integrations. thanks again

great video - thanks! a couple questions... for facial recognition - is that something your apple HomeKit does? (and not unifi) i was looking at the various cameras to choose from unifi, and only the AI cameras can do facial recognition, (through the unifi app) yet you have it on your g4 doorbell through apple HomeKit? does facial recognition work on any of your other cameras?

My concern with the ‘no subscription’ option almost always means no law enforcement or ES support meaning, you’re on your own when there’s a fire or a break in or some other emergency situation. Hope your neighbors don’t ignore that alarm sound and call 911.

Hey eddie great video, I have 2 questions. I got my g4 doorbell the other day which I only need for the time being. However it does say ready for set up, what should I do from there?

Also what device would you recommend or router? I am a low spender so if possible I do not want to spend a considerable amount of money.

One opinion here- I think local video storage is a huge risk. Break ins, fires, etc leave the stored video vulnerable to destruction for insurance purposes. Ideally, you have both local storage (in case of network failure) and cloud storage (to mitigate the physical risk)

Did not know about the HB Protect pairing. I went from HB to Scrypted but its a bit defunct now. I was going to refresh everything - Would you Homebridge over/ rather than Scrypted now?
