Hi there. The Greek name for Famagusta is "Ammochostos".

That is an amazing hotel room for a quite reasonable $45 USD. I'm still in shock with the prices you experienced in Switzerland. That room view in Northern Cyprus would easily go for $200 USD in the Swiss Alps. And let's not forget about the $27 USD for a cheese burger and fries in Zermatt.

Limanı, is Turkish. Means "the port". If you go to the airport, it's Ercan havalimanı. Hava "Air" limanı "port"

In the medieval knight times, Famagusta was co capital of Knight Templars with Nicosia. In XII, XIII, XIV and XV century Knight Templars were crowned as Kings of Cyprus in the St. Sophia Cathedral in Nicosia and then crowned as Kings of Jerusalem in the St Nicholas Cathedral (on video) in Famagusta. St Nicholas Cathedral was constructed by Knight Templars for coronation from 1298 to 1312 in french gothic style in same time like other similiar cathedrals in France for example Notre-Dame in Paris. Holy Grail from Jerusalem was in the St Nicholas Cathedral for crowning Kings of Jerusalem.

Famagosta or Famagusta means : Fama Augusti / Fame for Augusto Euperaror Roman era 27 a.C. - You are talking about Gazy Mağusa - Gazy is a suffix meaning Glorious .
Famagosta in Greek is : Αμμόχωστος Ammochostos

In August 1570 the city of Famagosta was besieged by the huge ottoman Turkish fleet led by Lala Kara Mustafa Pasha. ( besieged for a year ) . The Venetians were led by Marcantonio Bragadin and Astorre that's why the old gothic Cathedral of St. Nicola - now a Mosque -has that name.
Gabriel, have you ever thought about studying art history?

It's like the neighborhood block party where half the street is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the other half is just trying to sell ice cream. If walls could talk, these ones would have an epic tale to tell. Now that I'm learning about Cyprus(thanks to your explanation), I would love to have this place be featured on our TV show, too.

Such a beautifull church. Sadly they ruined it with the minaret. zero respect for the people who did that.

This city is also occupied. My home and properties are here and taken advantage by illegal settlers while I am not allowed to use them.
