I gotta say, the difficulty setting up and using DOSBox-X is legendary. Only a Linux enthusiast could have designed something with a learning curve that forces users to rage-quit in frustration.

So strange. I have tried on two different computers, and DOSBox-X refuses to mount any disk images. Whether its IMG or VHD files. With IMG files it says "failed to mount", with VHD it does not give any feedback, but no disk mounted. I tried mounting with the UI.

So I followed this video and figured the problem was I did not use the config files to mount the images, but while it does correctly show the image geometry auto detection it then just says "Cannot create drive from file" on the next line.

I have tried googling this issue, but cannot find anyone else having it. I tried mounting the img file in Windows and that also works fine. Mind, I did not mount it until after I had tried mounting it in DOSBox-X. All of this works for me in PCem. Not sure what is different with DOSBox-X. I suspect there might be some conflict with something I installed to help me mount images like these as drives in my 64 bit Windows 10 installation. I tried on my laptop and my desktop. I was thinking it was my laptop that had some kind of problem, but my desktop has the same issue.

Does CD-ROM mount working in Guest OS e.g. Windows 1.0x, 2.x, Windows 3.0, 3.11, Windows 95, 98 & ME in DOSBox-X ?

i was able to only get Windows 95, Windows 3.1, Windows 3.0, Windows 2 and Windows 1 working in Dosbox-x
i once tried installing Windows ME, it took 6 hours and when the setup completed, it got stuck at blue screen

Win98 install is way toooo slow on DosBox-X. DosBox Daum could do the job better.

it works with dosbox daum but it goes on windows protection error you need to restart your computer

Six hours to install without the image?!? Crazy. Can you use a front end like d-fend? Have you got the voodoo drivers to work? Is this viable for playing games at a good speed or should I stick with pcem etc? Do usb joysticks work through dosbox? Vmware usb joysticks are problematic.

THis was the easiet tutorial I found! One problem. When I get into windows 98, the cursor won't move. Anybody know why?

Yet ***ANOTHER*** video where it would have been quicker and simpler to have a WRITTEN OUT description of the process. But instead we get this video with dopey/obnoxious music and flicking through screens where you have to try and figure out what's being entered. No thanks, I have better things to do with my time, like flossing my teeth.
