Lots of great boxes out there, this one is my favorite for both it’s form factor, and function. Thanks for watching!

Hey Colt, great video as always. I don't know man, I actually feel the Audient ID44mkii is the better buy here - just as powerful, great preamps, more adat I/O (enough outputs to run a minimum atmos rig). Honestly the only thing missing is the metering section on the MBOX and midi I/O. But its nearly half the price. Worth a thought

Great presentation and logical thought processes (as usual from you)
Note: Audient ID44 MkII is only $699 at our fav Sweetwater.
It has FOUR independent artist cue mixes. 😮
And talk about Console preamps! 🎉
And it has dedicated balanced Insert points for using outboard gear on the preamps OR patching in your own BAE/Neve/WarmAudio channel strips 😃

I would go for the Audient ID44 MkII. A couple more features for $100 less

This looks fenomenal. Cool to see avid going in a more “modern” direction, similar to the RME and their TotalMix sofware, which I use and love ❤️

Dear Colt. Long time suscriber. I have AudioMedia III, Original Cyan M-Box, Digi 001 and 002. Aside an MIX ++ setup. DIgidesign was bad giving support for older interfaces once they develop another batch of newer interfaces. 2 years ago I tried RME and I cant go back. Now I have 3 RME interfaces for Protools. If Avid would be like RME and still support 20 years old interfaces I would go back with them. I really hope your interface to be still supported in 5 years. I guess you will end getting an Appollo from Upstair Studio A once you do the Atmos setup. I encorage you to embrace Dante to have connected Studio A and B for Tracking a band on both simultaneously. Thanks for your videos. Always inspiring.

I have 2 independent headphone mixes on MiniFuse 4... 🤭 For what I do, there are enough inputs. Of course we talk about different levels of sound interfaces. Just saying that there are also cheaper interfaces that do independent headphones mixes, if that is all that matter to one. 😏

ID44 is significantly better than this box. Also, I don't think many gearheads will like the whole toyish/carnival look of this piece. I'm just saying....

my RME was 2500 like 25 years ago .. 100 a year is cheap right lol .. re capped it myself last year.. total mix is great this has a mixer like it .. that mixer is the best thing to have

This is one of those interfaces that can easily get overlooked, or at least I may have overlooked. I've been caught up with the UAD stuff so much but this one is a great buy! If you compare the Mbox Studio to the Apollo Twin(both are fairly in the same price point) it shows that off hand out the box you get a bit more with this one. The Apollos just offer the unison technology to record thru virtual preamps. However, it's still more things to pay for when buying those preamps and plugins to work with the unison pres. Great video as always!

Lately I got interested in RME babyface pro as an upgrade under 1000$ for home studio. What's your views on RME?

Arturia Audiofuse Studio. $899. It has all the same connectivity plus more, I would venture a guess to better preamps, one-for-one buttons, multiple HP mixes, built in reamp, and is a usb hub. Fairly extensive mix software but easy to understand and has a button on the interface to open said software.

Hey Colt! great video again ! I really like how you review things and I bought this interface because of my old apogee element 24. The roundtrip of the avid mbox is higher but not a big deal at all I think. I ordered this interface at thomann from Germany. They give every person who ordered this interface a perpetual PT Studio with one year support. So I used every other DAW out there and everybody told me to not switch to pro tools but for me it feels right and I used the free version called intro I think and something happens inside myself when I start these DAW every time. I feel like coming home haha it's a lot of stuff to learn but at the end it's a phenomenal DAW and has a great community so far ! Thanks for your videos !

Hey Colt, I have looked at the new Motu 828which even has a built in mixer along with a good cue mix app, please when you get a chance tell me what you think

I love the look of it, especially all of the I/O. I’m happy with my UAD interfaces but this looks great value for money. I remember the old Mbox from decades ago.

thanks for this review, it has been in my cart for a while. another one would be the Tascam Series 208i which has separate headphone mixes, too.

Pretty sure the audient iD44 has independent headphone mixes and everything else you mentioned? Can someone correct me if I’m wrong?

Being a Cubase user I've never considered AVID. But this one seems to be interesting.

4 mic pres are a good plus, but if I'm honest, once I get that close to $1.000 I'll just do RME. I've got a Babyface Pro FS as a portable bus powered unit (which I assume this isn't), and a Fireface UCX2, which has 6 analog outs and 8 analog ins, connected to a MOTU 8pre-es via adat AND sending AES digital to my main monitors (plus Auratones). The only thing that makes this avid box attractive is Pro Tools (which I don't care for).
