While this calculator has been in the world for some time now, the US release of the TI-84 Plus CE Python Edition, featuring TI Python, a fork of Circuitpython, just dropped. WUT WUT!?!

Got me one, suckuh. Here we go to unboxing this bad mamma jamma and exploring the UI for code input and development.

I purchased mine at Target (they had a red, white, and blue TI-84 Plus CE Python) in mid July. Since I had a blue 84 no-Python, I went with white. The teal 84 looks nice! The alpha lock in the Python programming takes getting used to. I wish the next update of the 84 includes base conversions and logic (not just in Python but everywhere).

I had to buy one of these calculators for my Algebra 2 class and I didn’t even realize the one I got was “python edition” until it arrived. Now, I’ve probably spent more time coding python on it then I’ll ever need it for in that class.

Great video and nice calculator. Love that new TI calculator. I also have the same teal switch lite as you do. 👍🏽

I was a bit bummed that the Basic in this is based off the Ti83 variant, more restrictive than the Ti86. I guess they did that for compatibility.

I've not got 2nd+entry, i.e. tab complete, to work. It's also difficult to type semicolon ";" and percent "%" on my TI-82 Advanced Edition Python that is rather similar to your calculator. You can find "%" second in the catalog menu, but ";" need a lot of key presses.

I just ordered this model calculator from Amazon for my last math class in college. I have the original ti-84 plus from twenty years ago. My teacher said that those versions are, " outmoded " ? So I had no idea what that meant. I hope that I don't have to learn how to program this calculator to use it ?

if you're on iOS, the PyCalc app is a good option. A full Python interpreter optimized for use as a calculator. And it's free...

I would have killed for Python on my graphing calulator back in the day. TI-Basic was too slow and I was not hax0r enough for z80 assembly.
