Have you ever had to spend countless hours re-rendering a long animation, simply because the client had a small, minuscule change at the last minute?

If you would have rendered your animation with an image sequence, you could have saved yourself the headache, and at the same time, impressed your client with a quick turnaround.

This quick tutorial covers what an image sequence is, how to render one, and how to work with them inside of After Effects.

Hopefully this tip can help save you valuable render time in the future.

Hi Mike, thanks for watching. To answer your question, yes, rendering an image sequence can actually solve a lot of problems, especially crashing and insufficient memory issues. If your render is crashing at the same frame every time, try rendering that little section as an image sequence to see if that resolves the issue. If not, you may have a corrupt file or preference in AE.

If all else fails, try restoring to default preferences.

Sounds like you have the "Render Separate Alpha Channel Separately" option checked in your render settings. Simply uncheck that box, and the alpha will be composited into your image sequence.

Hi, i just wanted to know, when after effects makes seperate files of each image, image sequence, is that an automatic thing or do you have to specify that you want it tod do that. As i want to make an animation but then have the seperate images of each frame. Thank you.
