Countertop paint- DIY soapstone

I must admit, when I started sponge painting, I was getting 90’s wall treatment vibes! 😄But after diluting, blending, and adding the veins, it’s exactly what I was going for!

I went with a black marble look, but you could definitely switch out your base colors for shades of white.

The oil-based primer is key on mdf, and then I switched to water-based products (all in a matte finish) and those can be diluted with water as shown here.

You could do this on existing laminate countertops, just give it a good scuff sanding first!

In a wet-bar or kitchen, I would top coat this with table top epoxy, but in a dry scenario water-based polyurethane will be plenty protection!

I cannot wait for the cabinet paint and all the pretty hardware up next!
