Sony a7R V Hands on Review | Is This The BEST Sony Camera?

4K120 is not a processor issue. It's incredibly difficult to do with this high resolution slowish sensor. They would've had to line skip like the Canon R5's 4K120, which has very serious drawbacks. Or you would need a much faster sensor readout, like the a1, which is significantly more expensive. It's crazy expensive to get 120fps out of a 61mp sensor.

Any reason they can't add a downsampled 5.3k to allow for crop and reposition of 4k videos? My GoPro 11 does this and find it very handy!

Taylor Jackson noted that files are huge and people need to be aware of the cost of media and storage. He said even the medium res files were still big.
The only thing that interests me on this camera is the rear screen that look a real bonus. Hopefully itll appear on a more mid-market camea soon, maybe like a A7C II.

Just an FYI, no chance the sensor can do 4K120. Not gimping. Even Sigma couldn't do it on their fp L video camera with the same sensor.

I think people don't care about the megapixel increase for this camera, but the sensor should at least be tweak to have more dynamic range.

Sony hardly has any firmware upgrades for most of their Alpha cameras.

IQ unchanged. Agree 61mp is fine. But why no ISO64 implementation and/or 16bit colour? This would have been a welcome incremental upgrade on what is primarily a stills focussed camera. What about support for focus stacking? Long exposures up to 59mins? As a landscape photographer, the only upgrade I see here for me is the improved EVF. I'm disappointed.

I think the AI autofocus don't work with videos, only photos

I fear that EVF lag will still be a problem for birds in flight photographers, and that's bad news.

No it’s not the best. Needs at least 20fps to be compared to anything else
