289. Narrowboat Cruise – Marston Junction to Bridge 28, Hartshill– Part Nine

Показать описание
Having reached Marston Junction where the Coventry and Ashby canals meet, I am now cruising on ‘new waters’, as I continue along the Coventry Canal into Nuneaton, where a strange object attaches to the front of my boat! The sun keeps on shining, as I pass many waterside gardens but there is another issue ahead.

Alan thank you for taking my mind on adventures. Due to injury my body is not able to adventure on its own so riding along with you is a true blessing. Thank you very much

Evening Alan, that was a another lovely cruise. It surprised us how much of the trip that you might think of as being urban and not too pleasant really was a lovely area to cruise through. We stayed clear of rubbish in the canal until we went through Birmingham.... and then "oh dear"...! Thoroughly enjoying being with you 🍷🍷

There was some stunning scenery on this part of the cruise. Its lovely when you see the gardens next to the canal. I love weeping willow trees.
I'm glad you weren't pushing a mine along on the front of your boat!! But you did absolutely the right thing by not trying to pull it out. You were cruising on your own, if you had an accident and injured yourself, or even worse, there would have been nobody there to save you. Isn't it sad that people throw so many items into the canals. People have become so selfish. So many boats could be damaged. There is no excuse. Anyway, thank you for the lovely vlog. xx

Hi Alan, loving your content all the way down here in Australia. Sadly we have nothing like your beautiful canal system here. BTW you did the right thing by not trying to pull the plastic house lid out of the water. Before you commented I though it would be dangerous.

Good Morning Alan. That was a pleasant journey with a few events.
I think you were correct not to pull out the wood on the front safety first .
Take care & enjoy your day tomorrow.

(05:14) British English: "Very pleasant. Very pleasant, indeed." American English: "Seems quite ordinary. Unremarkable." 😁

I recognised that unusual style tiller, you passed NB Chip, a month ago and after being in the area looking at another possible narrowboats for sale, I visited Springwood Haven Marina (ABC Boat Hire location) and though no boat for sale in budget, NB Chip, moored just outside was a private sale. Lovely looking boat it was too. I didn't go on it, the owners were away. Wish I did, its still up for sale on the ole Apollo duck, though I thought at the time the low dropped cabin wouldn't suit someone of my height.

Hope you enjoyed your new waters, I certainly did. There was some nice canal side gardens. It’s a shame the town areas have so much discarded belongings and annoying when they attach themselves to parts of your boat. You seem to have found a nice mooring. Hope you enjoyed your layover day Alan, have a nice weekend 👍

One good thing with the hot weather is the savings on energy bills. For now that is. Dreading the colder days and nights. At least your vlogs take us away from those thoughts for a while Alan. Those solar panels you have installed saves you a bob or two. Speaking of Solar Panels. That mound you passed at the start appears to be a solar panel farm. Quite a big one at that too. 👍

Nuneaton seems a lovely town, but as with any town, the canals seem to be used as a rubbish tip. It's a shame, the lovely setting being ruined by floating whatever. You made the right call, not trying to pull the Wendy house roof out by yourself. It'd do you no good to either fall in or pull a muscle trying. Sounds like you picked a peaceful spot to moor up at the end. All I could hear was birdsong, and what sounded like distant traffic. Another calming cruise.

Hey Alan, did you notice at t/s 4:25, just as you went under “Turnover Bridge #18, there was something on top center of the bridge? Wonder what it was? Looked like a robot. 🤖 😀 Good vlog, enjoyed it muchly.

Turnover bridge is for the horses to go down the canals that used to go to the pit in Griff. The route is walkable but not in water
