V Rising - What You Need To Know Before You Play

V Rising is the newest game from stunlock studios releasing into early access on the 17th of may and today i have some new exclusive gameplay for you from the closed beta earlier this week. This RPG/survival hybrid is really fun to play and i hope you like the features it brings to the table!

V Rising is a vampire survival game for the PC, played out in a gothic open-world, containing a mix of exploration, building, crafting, and action-packed combat. Rise from your coffin as a newly-awakened vampire, stripped from your former powers, fight for survival and strive to dominate the land of the living. Play solo or create a clan with up to three friends as you build your castle, hunt for blood in nearby villages, and wage war against your enemies. The world of V Rising is inhabited by both NPCs and players, offering PvP and PvE challenges. You will need to power up your character by obtaining unholy abilities, crafting armor and weapons. You will also need to strengthen your castle while the threat from other players is rising.

- A Gothic Open-World: Explore a vast world teeming with mythical beings and danger. Travel through lush forests, open countryside, and dark dungeons to discover valuable resources, meeting friends and foes alike along the way. Traverse the world with vampire comrades or hunt solo as you pillage villages, raid bandits, and wander into the domains of supernatural beasts.

- Fear the light - Rule the night: Stick to the shadows during the daytime, or the burning sunlight will turn you to ashes. Roam the night and prey on your victims in the darkness. As a vampire, you must quench your bloodlust and plan your strategies around the day/night cycle.

- Raise your Castle: Gather resources and discover ancient techniques to gain dark powers. Use your newly acquired knowledge to build a castle where you can store your loot and grow your army of darkness. Personalize your domain, exhibit your vampiric style and make sure to craft coffins for servants and friends. Strengthen your castle while the threat from other players is rising.

- Compete or Cooperate: Travel alone or explore the world with friends. Fighting side by side with other vampires will give you an advantage in your battle against the strongest creatures and most powerful humans. Raid other players’ castles or play the diplomat in the game of blood, power, and betrayal. Compete or cooperate - the choice is yours.

- Master your Vampire: Learn and master an arsenal of deadly weapons and unholy abilities. In V Rising, you aim skill-shots and dodge projectiles using​ precise​​ ​WASD controls ​and cursor-based​ ​aiming - no click to move. Tailor your play-style by combining melee or range weapons with a variety of powerful spell kits. I'm hoping this game takes off for Stunlock. I played Battlerite and thought that it was the next best thing, but they mishandled that product and it faded into obscurity despite it's great competitive scene potential. V Rising looks great and looking forward to playing on Tuesday. Hopefully it does well enough for them to want to pick battlerite back up eventually or something

Love how they went full all in with all the different kind of server types. Having a PvE server and 4 different type of PvP servers, while not worrying about how this could divide the playerbase. While there are other games out there which are highly popular but still refuse to implement even a 2nd type of server. Like Sea of Thieves where the community is screaming for them since years. :D

I love the blood system. You didn't mention that you can dominate humans and make them servants or prisoners:
as a servant, they can defend your base or be sent off on gathering missions in places of interest (like Stronghold missions in Lost Ark or Garrrison missions from WoW)
as a prisoner you can fill vials of their blood without killing them (as long as you don't drain 100%) so you can have blood types on hand to swap/fill your blood pool in the field. You just have to be careful about managing the prisoner's misery level with quality fish so that draining blood doesn't take extra damage

After playing this game all the way and then finishing off killing the final boss feeling extremely accomplished taking him on solo on my friends pve server. This game is fantastic, i took my time going through it, there was no rush to get the bosses done and it was just fun. I'm not much of a grinder but this game didn't bother me at all and more so relaxed me since there was no rush to do anything. One day i was saying okay im going to chop wood down kind of day, other days stone or me getting distracted going into a camp to see what kind of loot i could get. other days i would explore and gather, then be ballsy trying to hit a super high level boss down when they were distracted fighting a enemy npc, other days minding my own buisness then having a jumpscare and screaming my head off, tail tucked between my legs running from a 'skull' boss who happened to walk up on me. Honestly? when i was getting near the end of the bosses that we could defeat so far, I surprised myself when i kept thinking to myself " even when i finish... i want to do it again and start over." this game has been a blast and i do hope it succeeds.

I like that they have multiple options to choose from casual, to softcore pvp to hardcore pvp. Really makes the game more accessible to more players depending on how they want to enjoy the game.

Dude. This game is actually deeper than i thought it would be. The combat looks pretty awesome and engaging.
And i love the concept of playing as a vampire and just building up a stronghold.
I'll have to try this game out

Stunlock's previous title Battlerite was super fun and well made. It just came out during a strange era when all of the oxygen in the moba genre was monopolized by a few other titles so it never reached critical mass. But it wasn't due to lack of content or quality.

The fact it has pve makes it better than a lot of games like it, not having to deal with the mess that is pvp is great.

If they allow 1 character per server type it will really make it interesting allowing the player to experience everything. I imagine the soft-core pvp server and the pve server will see the most in terms of player count.

I've had an eye on this game for a long time and tried to get into the alpha/beta test but I was never chosen. Glad this game has moved away from pvp and more into what it is now. I think it has so much more potential as a crafting/survival/rpg and the vampire elements plus a giant amount of stuff to do will keep this game popular for a long time.

I really love a well detailed world.
And this game seems to be somewhere in the middle-high category. I do like it.
Also, the lighting and rendering can be fixed with reshade. Can't wait to play it.
