Wood Fence with Steel Posts and Brackets

preview_player
Показать описание
Used the more heavy duty 14 gauge 2 3/8 inch (6 cm) diameter galvanized steel round posts. Posts are 8 feet -two feet into the ground and 6 feet above. Two posts for each 8 foot long wooden panel. The heavy duty brackets have a lip or shelf to support the wood panel cross members. The adjustable brackets were purchased from a local fence supply company, you may not find them at a Home Depot or Lowes. We reused the existing wooden fence panels and will replace them as need in the future, as the brackets are adjustable up and down the posts.

Dale, thanks, I googled them, a couple of companies made them, Im in the costa mesa/newport beach area of the OC., Alta Dena is a bit of a drive, but, i did find them for 2.65 or so, but shipping was 5.00 each. So, Home Depot DOES have them, albeit they are 5.50 each, but, no shipping. Ganahl lumber didnt have them.... i only needed 14, for 60 linear feet, im not doing the 3 rail, just 2. Thanks for the video.

I've been given a quote of $1, 500 to add 9 steel fence posts and replace a few fence boards. That is excessive, so I think I will have to fix my fence since most companies are charging that minimum fee to do the work. What tools will I need to drill that hole (I live in TX with clay soil). That is my biggest concern is getting that 2 foot hole dug and then setting the post correctly. And then what tools will I need to attach the posts to the fence. Thanks

Any suggestions for posts that are 3 1/2" OD?
All my post's are and it's impossible to find brackets.

Did you dig the holes for the metal posts with the old fence panels still attached to the old wooden post???

Hi. Thanks for the video. How much you pay for each bracket? And where did you buy it?

if anyone else can answer this, please do. My fence is leaning badly and I don't want to remove any panels in order to dig the new holes. thanks.

Two feet in the ground, only two rails...lucky you don't get any real wind or frost heave, else that won't last but a couple of seasons where I live.

If you intend to keep using that old wood, you need to treat it. The older and greyer it gets, the more brittle the wood becomes.

Yes Please what is the name of the company or the manufacture/part name/part number of the bracket? Simpson? There should be a number stamp/engraved on the bracket, like, 85L4

Now spray the wood with 50/50 Diesel and used motor oil. Will preserve the wood for 30+ years. Great way to properly recycle the used oil. Bugs don't eat it and won't harm any grass or vegetation. I see no reason NOT to keep the old pickets. They are in great shape. Just need some old farmers trick Diesel and used motor oil sprayed with your garden pump up sprayer.

Why would you put the posts and cross-beams on the outside of the fence?
