After effects is NOT a 3D software, no matter how many new 3D features they add, it'll ALWAYS be laggy and mid-range quality.
Adobe should rather focus on new features for motion graphics, VFX and such.

Good UI update, but we need AE to be rewritten from the ground, it is so slow even on NASA computers.

This is fantastic! These new features are impressive. At this rate, Blender, Maya, and Cinema might soon be left in the dust, with After Effects taking the lead. Also, love the '90 vibe for new text presets.
In the next version, I'd love to see the removal of all 2D features- no more struggling with laggy and useless tools like shape layers and vfx effects!
