It was a difficult environment for Nehru to face international press but still he dealt with dignity. Has anyone seen the current PM facing press?

Nehru was a well read person with dignity who could face tough interviewers without flinching. He was a true statesman and could rise above petty matters.

S Jaishankar is a brilliant foreign minister who knows diplomacy as the back of his palm. But still he can learn from Nehru to be not arrogant to press people making questions, giving out answers pleasant to the ears and still sending out the message what he meant.

Huge respect for Pandit Nehru for doing all that was required to launch India into a modern state starting with nothing soon after independence.A man endowed with great scholarly attributes, statesmanship, vision and International stature expected of a leader steered India through difficult times in its formative stages. His vilification in present times in certain quarters is nothing but a sad commentary on all pervasive rot in politics and the extent to which politicos can stoop.

Today India is due to Nehru but now police reforms, administrative reforms, autonomous free press, autonomous election commission etc is need to make India a nation state.

People forget time and space. I was born in India, just after Independence, and there was nothing left in the country. Thank God for the Nehru's, who had decided to donate both their palatial homes in Allahabad to the nation. It was an era of survival. I remember my mother saving our 1 kg ration of sugar, for visitors, so they could have a cup of tea! Jawaharlal was the right choice as India's first PM. God help us if we had what we have now!

Problems during those days were far more than today. They had to envision every bit of the future of such a huge country with such a big diversity. And made the right choices, which today's politicians try to get the entire credit for.

That's how a Head of the country or a PM sounds like. So calm, so composed. No unnecessary drama. So well educated. Because of this man today we're living in democratic country nd we've IIT, NIT aims, DRDO, isro, bhaba institute, etc.
