Ok, at least I have one person interested!
I agree on 'what makes it sound jazzy'. Let me know if you have any specific requests also. I'll try to do more on melody and imrpov

I`ve been studying classical music my whole life so your videos are great on visualising how a jazz musician thinks....for us it`s octatonic scale, for you it`s diminished scale, for you it`s II7 with b5 on the bass, for us it`s the French (augmented) sixth chord. It`s all the same :)...music is music

The setup takes the longest - trying to get the camera positioned above the keyboard aimed at the right keys, & getting the mic to record the piano and my voice evenly. Once that's setup I just do about 1 hr 30 of talking, covering a list of topics. Last of all I edit that footage down into short videos. The editing is fairly quick and simple. I get about 10 videos out of each session usually. Youtube upload takes a long time. 3 hours per 10 minute video. Are you planning on making videos?

I was just thinking of that this morning, covering some interesting patterns, not just generic jazz licks. Yep I think I can do a video focussing on some interesting patterns and shapes
Thanks for the feedback, these really help me know what people are interested in the most

You're welcome! Thanks for saying so in a comment!

Thanks, glad these help. I've actually studied more classical music than jazz, and you're right, a lot of it is the same stuff with different names.
I've got a video I'm editing on the augmented 6th chord, and how it is actually a form of tritone substitution how it resolves down a half step to V7. I don't think it will be that popular, but I want to post it anyway!

The sheet music panning is actually the easiest part. I'm using iMovie (mac) and I just import jpeg stills of the music, then use the 'Ken Burns' effects to do a slow pan across.

Your channel looks great. The piano looks lovely - is that a nord? My biggest advice is always ask your viewers to do something at the end. Either like it, comment, or subscribe, or like your facebook page. I probably do it a bit too much, but it really speeds up the process of getting your channel to rank highly

Thanks for the tip! The piano is actually a Korg SV-1. I always thought Id get a Nord, but I saw this guy in the back of guitar center one day, and I tried it out- and it blew me away! The E. Piano isnt quite as good as a Nord, but I like the action, and the clav, and the wurlitzer sounds way better than the nord.

excellent video! How about a video of some of your favorite riffs to play on a set of chords?

Jules, another fabulous lesson. I've got one for the request list. Ballad playing. How about Luis Bonfa's Gentle Rain, in the style of Diana Krall. Although a bossa nova works too. Much obliged!

P.s. in the early days, I'd do all the setup and just do 1 or 2 videos. Now I've learnt to do as many videos as I can while it's setup.

Nice suggestion! I'll see what I can do!

Nice vids man. How long does it take you per video (including everything from planning the lesson to recording to editing to uploading)?

and F# voiceleading to G7, would be a great video! I think people are more interested on 'what makes it jazzy', the tricks, the patterns that great jazz musicians were using and how to enhance their improv skills.

Many thanks. I'll forward the leadsheet.

Yeah, it's the same rhythm in the melody, and the chords. I think I was listening to So What before I wrote this. But then that's how all composition works, it's never original
