Theres nothing like a fresh set of bass strings. I would honestly change strings every 2 weeks if I could afford it

I just threw a Marbass Ultimate 045/105 set on my jazz bass, and I'm amazed by the clarity, immediate intonation, and defined tone they have!

Frank is the Best, but it would have been nice to hear each set of strings with a couple of tone settings to show the range that's available with each set. For example, it seems to me that the stainless set might be capable of a more mellow result with the tone rolled back, but will need to spend money to see if that's true.

They do sound good. Frank is the king of the bass face without a doubt.

The balanced sets have a major problem, I bought two sets because they were in a introductory sale when it came here. First set was really a higher tension set with balanced sound with plenty of output. But the problem was when the E string suddenly became dull, dead and rubbery, suddenly. It was a bummer, changed the strings and used rotosounds for couple months. Then when it was time to change again, I really enjoyed the sound but after few hours the E became dull and dead again in the same day. What probably happens is that those two layers of wrap wire don’t hold and the lower one slips. I think it is some kind of wire slippage. I’d recommend you avoid them. I do not have more than 10 days of play time in those. I hope someone from Markbass also sees this because I want proper working sets, the sound was enjoyable.

Frank does the "Funk Face" better than just about anybody.

I really enjoyed Frank Itt's Guitar Summit Masterclass. Mr. Bassface is a really chill guy. Seeing him play e.g. Tower of power from only 2 m away was very cool. 😁
I am not sure if I wanna try the Markbass Strings, but their lightweight MB58r cabinets really impressed me. I will probably choose one of them instead of the carbon cabinets of another italian company. 😁

I would like to have heard more play on the G string. I think the 2nd and 3rd sets were only EAD strings.
The reason I mention this is because I am trying to find a set with less "ping" on the G string. Typically use 105-45 sets. Thought maybe a heavier gauge on the G might help?

Where I live they are about the same price as DRs. Any ideas how they compare?

I had those grooves on my stingray and they died super quickly, good sound while they were new though.
