There might've been just as many burger joints attached to sports stars as there were McDonald's and White Castle ripoffs. But original or not, they weren’t all destined to stick around forever.

I recall as a kid in Ballwin MO, there was a Burger Chef on the main drag (and a Shakey's Pizza) and I always enjoyed eating there.

As a youngster in the late 60s and early 70s, Burger chef was my absolute favorite growing up. I had to migrate over to Wendy's in the mid-seventies LOL

Wimpy was big in the UK until the end of the 1980's, a mix of burger bars and more traditional greasy spoon cafe's. There were even computer game licenses released on the home micro's of the early 80's. Then something happened and many cafe's rebranded (star burger and similar, seems to be same suppliers and menus) and the burger bars closed/became Burger Kings.

Carrol's Sea Fillet fish sandwich was my most favorite treat in Oneonta NY. I miss that sandwich to this day. A 12 mile drive from Meredith Square on a Thursday night was the height of my week.

There was a "Red Barn" in Waco, TEXAS all the way up into the two thousands just like you showed in the video!! 🤠👍
P.s. We also had a "Dairy Queen" knock off in Texas called "Dairy Twin" that was usually within one city block of the Dairy Queen most of those lasted until the independent owners retired or passed away!!

Is hardees next? Many of our hardees are closing in my area. There are not many left in eastern Virginia.

That original Gino's in Dundalk is now a carry out crab house 1/2 mile from my house, still the same building. I remember when they introduced the Gino's giant, It was a rectangular burger on an 8" sub roll then they changed it to a double burger like a Big Mac because people claimed it was just a typical sub like every sub shop sold.

The one I really miss was Little Tavern. They actually made fresh slider burgers with diced onions inside the burger. We used to buy dozens of them by the bag full and pig out on our way to Ocean City back in the 70's. They were 25c for 6 so we would each buy $5 worth for the ride. We also had an old crab house down the street that sold large crabs for 25c each back in the 70's. We would ride our bikes over there with 50c and ask for crabs then go back in the woods and eat only to find a bag with 2 doz crabs every time.

Seems like every Red Barn building still standing has been converted to another type of business. There's at least 3 here in Colorado Springs, those of us that remember them can tell what they were just by looking at them.
