650B SALSA WARBIRD! IS THIS THE ONE!?!

Is this the 650b Warbird we have been waiting for?

I test rode a 650b. Didn’t care for it on road or gravel, but I took it on some chill Florida xc trails and it was SICK. Super fun and every trail felt new again. Almost felt like early 90s Mtn biking with the rigid frames, narrow bars and 1.9 - 2.1 tires. I loved it

Good job placing this on the spectrum of gravel etc bikes.
I demo’d the 700c version locally and thought it well done. Neutral ride, good pedaling response, thoughtful frame design. This bike would come to life with some fancy wheels and tires.

Thank you Russ for the excellent review. It makes me feel good about my purchase. I was on the fence between Cutthroat and Warbird for a long time.
Now I just hope Salsa figures out the fork issue and resumes sales of the Warbird!

After your great review on the bike and lots of lots of thoughts, last Friday I went to the Salsa dealer, put the deposit down and ordered my Warbird V4!
Today I received a sad phone call from the bike shop. The 2019 Warbird have problems with fork and it will not be available until they fix the issues.

Could you review the Marin Nicasio 2? Steel, through axles, some mounts and afaik it's possible to fit 650B. And (also afaik) it's one of the cheapest with hydraulic brakes.

I've watched a number of your videos, and it seems that you're a big fan of 650B. Why do you prefer 650B so much over the 700c variants? Does it really make the ride so much different?

Wow, critical review, but I think I will check this one out... You didn't like the bike because it wasn't as responsive as the old version, but you selected a LESS responsive Cutthroat bike because you thought the Warbird was too responsive?!!?? Just a bit confused ~
