It's surprisingly easy to search online and find very personal information about people, including their birthday, home address, cell phone number and more. Watch as Josh walks through the process of exposing somebody who thought they were anonymous and learn from the mistakes made.

This makes sense. It really does not take too much technical knowledge to be able to find someone online these days. Thanks for this video. It gives me tips on how to protect myself better.

This is good to think about and more people should - especially lawmakers.

Thoughts about Dreamy Drew: I understand why he'd omit that information from his dating profile. "I live with my mom & have a kid" are usually immediate dealbreakers for many people. In dating in general, you don't want to offer every piece of information about yourself at your first conversation/meeting. Some things are better left said later, like the first few weeks after you've established a friendship with someone. Kind of feels like you're shaming him for "living with his mom" and having a kid. It's not like your friend wouldn't have eventually found out. Yeah, his intentions could have been malicious, but chances are the guy's been rejected hundreds of time for that very thing.

Anyhow, still good info about usernames. Keep your internet personas seperate from each other.

while finding info on someone can be easy with todays tools, i hope there is some cross-examination or cross-referencing of that information similar to a reporter getting the scoop from their source/contact. i say this just because false positive is a real thing.

All he wanted was love, and ended up with someone checking some source code...

Great video . . . as usual. You should do some videos about public video cameras, like those often seen at intersections in the U.S.

For real I thought dreamy Drew’s profile pic looked like some stock photo I’ve seen. Then I had to remind myself this is a reenactment lol

Yes most of us are on the web somewhere with some basic information available. I dumped FB for its censorship and have never missed it. Another thing to watch out for is scammers who pretend to own properties who actually try to list and sell property that does not belong to them or Rent property whereby they find an unoccupied home, break in and change the locks. Then they collect a down payment, first months rent and Vanish while the unsuspecting renter is left living illegally in someone else's home.

Great video. Edward Snowden told everyone years ago there is no anonymity or security on line. No law by any government will change that. Your information is valuable. Businesses, governments, and cyber criminals don't have to work hard to get it. Aside from the information one releases themselves, their contacts release even more by their activities that include your information.

I've just downloaded a friends image from facebook and tried that google image search off facebook and it drew a blank, but that is where I downloaded the pic from?

Would love to learn more about online counterintelligence. Especially to thwart would-be cyber-attackers. I don't think I've ever once seen anyone in the cybersecurity space cover this topic on youtube.
