I visited Qatar last Ramadan in 2024, and when I returned to North Carolina, I couldn't stop wearing my abayas. So, now I go to the grocery store looking like I'm supposed to be in Qatar or Saudi Arabia, and I love it. I'm not overdressed; everyone is underdressed. I literally don't care anymore; they need to get used to us.

Doha receives visitors of all faiths. If you were not wearing a hijab, then they have to ask if you’re a Muslim.
