Hello ! in this video I will show what the permutations is.

Permutation is the act of arranging the members or letters or objects of a set into a sequence or order.
1. Permutation of 𝑛 different objects
Ex : Given 3 letters ABC. How many ways that we can permute these 3 letters.
Answer : ABC , ACB , BAC , BCA , CAB , CBA. There are 6 ways.
How to find the answer like this?
To find the total ways of permuting of these 3 letters
We can show by Tree Diagram
The 1st order we can put A or B or C, so we have 3 choices.
After each 1st order, we have only 2 choices i.e. after A
is B or C, after B is A or C, after C is A or B.
After each 2nd order, we have only 1 choice i.e.
after AB is C, after AC is B and …
If we multiple the number of each order.
We get 3 x 2 x 1 = 6 ways
This means that permutation of 3 different letters has 3! ways
So there are 𝒏! ways of permutation of 𝒏 different letters.
Exercise 1
How many ways of Permutation of 4 different letters 𝐴𝐵𝐶𝐷 ?
Answer : 4! = 4 x 3 x 2 x 1 = 24 ways.
Exercise 2
How many ways of Permutation of the word MATHS ?
Answer : The word MATHS has 5 different letters.
Then the total ways of permutation is
5! = 5 x 4 x 3 x 2 x 1 = 120 ways.
