this is exactly what I"ve been looking for - I am redoing a 1984 Tioga class C RV - and having to totally gut it, lots of water damage but wanted to gut it anyway to open it up completely to live and work in - so excited to see this series - and you are giving me so much info so I can have a better idea what to do - cus I know almost nothing about this stuff - this is a totally new venture - hope you get all you want from your venture too :)

Scary, and possibly demoralizing to find that much damage.

You guys found out first hand how badly and cheaply these RV's are made. They are refered to as (sticks and staples). The outside walls are 2x2's which is actually 1.5x1.5". They look nice when new but wait 5-10 years and they ALL leak. Just google RV crashes. I have seen a few roll overs and rearend accidents and there is nothing left of them. You should get a skoolie. The school buses are cheap to buy maybe $2-4000 are built on a truck chassis, are made to protect children in roll overs, have some high quality fuel efficent diesel engines and you can start with a blank slate. Skoolie.net is a wealth of info on them. You just can't beat them for the price and quality! Good luck on your journey! I'm working my way to being debt free too! Dave Ramsey is awesome!

Why did you destroyed a perfectly good camper?

Sorry can't understand why you totally demo'd this when only a few parts were bad. You say you have no money yet are throwing out insulation, cabinets etc which have no issues. If you were being honest you would say you wanted to make this rv over totally as it wasn't necessary to go all out as you did.
