I just lost a nice bass the other day for the same reason. Tightened the drag instead of letting him get the wiggles out.

When you are dragging him out it’s 100% they give it there all, now we’re gets complicated if they run inside a hole or structure and you need them come out. 😂

Second, ask YouTube how to set drag properly. No matter if it’s a 2-weight rig for wild Adirondack Brooke’s trout or what they use for monster marlin, it’s all the same principle. I’m sure there are vids on spinning reels.
